A collective of Italian family farmers using regenerative agriculture to revitalize abandoned olive groves.

Chi siamo

Libellula is a collective of family farmers in the hills just outside of Rome. Father-daughter duo Julia and Camillo founded Libellula to support small-scale Italian olive farmers who were abandoning their groves due to the challenges of climate change. By coming together as a collective, we pool our knowledge and resources, ensuring each farmer is able to keep their olive groves for many more generations to come – and share their exquisite extra virgin olive oil with those beyond just their small towns! Because we use regenerative farming, Libellula is 3-6 times higher in polyphenols and antioxidants than typical extra virgin olive oil.

Our co-founder, Julia, recently had the privilege of speaking at TEDx to share why our food stories matter. This is a topic near and dear to the Libellula family! In her speech, Julia shares how smallholders are key to helping us learn to work with nature and not against it. 🌳 When you adopt an olive grove, you help us build our collective of smallholders. Grove adopters are the backbone of Libellula, providing consistent investment in the land, and allowing us to continue to share some of Italy's finest extra virgin olive oil with you. If you'd like to learn more about supporting Sabina's family farmers, we invite to learn about becoming a Grove Adopter: https://lnkd.in/eA9hT8NE #foodsystems #regenerativeagriculture #oliveoil #familyfarm

We created Libellula after finding out that many of the family farmers surrounding our small Italian town were being forced to abandon their olive groves for two reasons: 1. New agriculture challenges they were facing due to climate change and; 2. Two, because their groves were too small for big brands to want to partner with them, making it difficult to sell their extra virgin olive oil with consistency. So we created a collective of family farmers, coming together under one label, sharing knowledge and resources, and making sure each olive grove has the support it needs (along with making the most exquisite regeneratively farmed extra virgin olive oil!). ☺️🌿 And now we’re SO excited to be at Specialty Food Association's #FancyFoodShow in NYC thanks to EmergeCPG. We’re hoping that by the end of the show we’ll be stocked in 5 new stores. But either way, we’ll bring you along behind the scenes so you can see what it’s like being a vendor during NYC’s biggest food show. :) And if you have any suggestions of stores we should talk to, please let us know! #oliveoil #extravirginoliveoil #evoo #italianoliveoil #fancyfoodnyc #fancyfoodshow #italianfood #regenerativeagriculture #libelluladopt

Well, we’re about to bring you behind the scenes to show you what it’s really like to be a vendor at Specialty Food Association's #FancyFoodShow. It’s a dream come true for us as a small family business to be part of this event full of culinary delights and innovations. Our goal is to be stocked in at least 5 new stores by the end (do you think we're aiming too high or too low?), so if you have any suggestions of stores or potential partners we should talk to, please let us know below. #oliveoil #extravirginoliveoil #evoo #italianoliveoil #italianfood #regenerativeagriculture #libelluladopt

Why could this week be HUGE for Libellula? 🤔 Because, we are incredibly proud to say, it will be our very first time at Specialty Food Association's #FancyFoodShow in NYC! 🎉 If you're attending, our cofounders Julia Franchi Scarselli and Camillo Franchi Scarselli will be landing in NYC tomorrow and would LOVE to connect with you. So please make sure to pop by our booth #5547A or send us a message so we can stop by yours. We'll be sharing videos each day, giving you behind the scenes of what it's like to be a small business drizzling olive oil and building relationships at the #FancyFoodShow. 🤓 As a family business, this is an incredible opportunity for us to introduce Libellula extra virgin olive oil to a plethora of potential stores, buyers, and B2B partners who prioritize regenerative agriculture and ethical production. 👨🏻🌾 We founded our collective of family farmers to help those abandoning their groves due to the challenges of climate. Through our collective we share knowledge and resources, ensuring that each farmer can keep their olive groves for future generations and revitalization of their land. A big thank you to Julie Pryor from EmergeCPG for helping make this big step forward a reality. 🙏
