⚠️ Here’s a million-dollar question: How many times can #wool be recycled? ✨ It is not news that wool is a highly #recyclable material, but nobody has answered this question… At least until now! 📒 As leaders in the production of #RecycledWool, thanks to our #MWool®, we partnered with the University of Leeds to carry out a pioneering study and answer this. Here’s what we found out 👇 1️⃣ Wool has the potential to be mechanically recycled up to 6 times in a closed-loop system. 2️⃣ The number of times wool fibres can be recycled strongly depends on the initial fibre length, the structure of the fabric and the setting of the recycling machine. 3️⃣ Recycling does not affect wool’s tensile strength. 📣 Thanks to this study, “Closed loop mechanical recyclability of post-consumer waste wool fabrics based on fibre length retention”, published in the Journal of Cleaner Engineering and Technology, we wanted to highlight even more how wool is THE key fibre to create effective #CircularEconomy models, thanks to its durability and recyclability. 👇 Read this #article to discover more!

Italian Premium Textiles and Circularity since 1943.
Chi siamo
Founded in 1941 by Enzo Anacleto Mantellassi, Manteco® began as a small spinning mill dedicated to producing recycled wool yarns from old military clothing and blankets. By 1943, the company expanded into woven textiles, maintaining its commitment to circularity and sustainability from the start. Over the decades, Manteco® has evolved into a benchmark in the fashion industry, celebrated for its creativity, innovation, and sustainable practices. Our dedication to research and investment has led to pioneering textile solutions that integrate a scientific approach to sustainability. Manteco® is fully certified and proudly produces 100% in Tuscany through MSystem, our specialized, zero-mile, fully traced, transparent, and certified supply chain comprising over 56 partner textile companies. Manteco® champions circular fashion, striving to prevent value leakages along the supply chain. Our Zero-Waste system recovers all wool industrial waste, and our Sustainable Design philosophy ensures the creation of durable and recyclable wool textiles. Innovative initiatives like Project43 and Project53 recycle wool fabric offcuts and unsold garments. We also introduce our own brands of sustainable wool: - MWool®: The next generation of recycled wool, made from pre- and post-consumer wool garments and scraps, colored without added dyes through our Recype® technique. - ReviWool®: Low-impact virgin wool crafted from valuable co-product fibers from the worsting process, transforming waste into premium textiles. Our relentless pursuit of sustainability has earned Manteco® membership in the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Network and partnership with the Monitor for Circular Fashion by SDA Bocconi. Not to mention 'The Climate Action' award at the 2023 Sustainable Fashion Awards by CNMI. 🎉 Last week we hosted the Fashion Design #students of Fashion Institute of Technology Florence and Marie Astier for a #MantecoAcademy field trip! 🎓 What is the Manteco Academy project? Manteco Academy is a project that aims at fostering more transparency and truthfulness in the fashion industry, by educating fashion students, from all over the world, on what actual sustainability, circular economy and eco-designed textiles are; all of this through lessons, webinars, workshops and field trips. We also provide our deadstock fabrics, or other textile materials, for contests and sponsorships.
