Following the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Charlevoix last week, Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, The Honorable Antonio Tajani, chaired a roundtable discussion with Italian companies operating in Canada. We were proud to have Marco Roma, General Manager of MAPEI Canada, represent our company, highlighting Mapei’s commitment to innovation and growth, at this important event organized at the Italian Embassy in Canada to strengthen ties between Italy and Canada. From February 11-13, Mapei's headquarters in Milan hosted colleagues from the Sustainability Teams all over the world for the first International Sustainability meeting: three days of intense discussions, inspiring ideas, and innovative solutions for a more sustainable future. Mapei started to invest in R&D to develop sustainable products and practices 10 years ago, and has made tremendous progress since then, as demonstrated by the speakers at this important event. Sustainability has become one of the core values of our organization. After an inspiring speech of our CEO Marco Squinzi at the opening session about the efforts on sustainability in Mapei, Mikaela Decio, Corporate Environmental Sustainability Manager, explained the details of the Zero line project (products with fully compensated CO₂ emissions) grown over the years. Today the Zero Line is sold in many countries, across 5 continents, with more than 230 products being part of this range, allowing the Mapei Group to offset 300,000 tonnes of CO₂ globally during 2024. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) , Sustainability reporting, new regulations, Carbon credits, LEED, communication avoiding greenwashing: these are some of the topics we faced in the event. A 500 sqm work of art made of mosaic has been realized in the Bäverbäcken tunnel in Tyresö, outside Stockholm, by the artists Emelie Solklippa and Hanna Westin Skogh.
