OCEM Airfield supports the expansion of the Reggio Calabria Airport. Reggio Calabria Airport, also known as Tito Minniti Strait Airport, was the first Italian airport built in Calabria serving the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria and Messina in Southern Italy. It is located along the west coast overlooking the strait of Messina. The airport is currently undergoing a passenger terminal redesign and expansion but is also refurbishing its airside in a drive to upgrade its infrastructure to meet its ambitious expansion, increasing the number of flights and passengers. Ryanair recently created an important base at the airport with several new routes. OCEM Airfield is supporting the airport with its latest generation LED Airfield Ground Lighting delivering amongst others the airport’s approach lighting including its LED Papi and Flashing System, working in 230V as well as powered via its CCRs. Besides this specific set-up, OCEM Airfield supplied the airport’s taxiway lighting needs and its IGBT power solutions (CCRs) and all accessories. The selection by the new airport management company of OCEM Airfield’s leading solutions illustrates the key role the company continues to play in Europe and in one of its home markets. How to measure earth leakage currents of series circuits? Did you know that OCEM’s IRM (Insulation Resistance Monitoring System) allows for the measuring of earth leakage currents in series circuits? The IRM displays the insulation resistance value locally, making it available within the local network e.g. optical fiber but also on the cabinet and the control stations. The permanent monitoring and insulation measurement of the series circuits enables detection of deterioration of the earth insulation, keeping the maintenance log updated on potential criticalities. Check out how the IRM solution can help improve the safety in your airport operations and read more about the Venice Marco Polo Airport case story. Why 360° Circular Guidance for safe operations matter? OCEM Airfield has since several years now implemented its Led Elevated Runway Lights LER. The light has a low Intensity omnidirectional component (>50Cd) which can operate from 2.8A to 6.6A as part of the circling guidance application. As a result it can achieve 0 to 360° in Azimuth and 0 to 15° elevation. This functionality improves the overall visibility of the runway during the approach and circling procedures. Getting the aircraft safely on the runway at the destination is surely the primary task of every pilot and guaranteeing a visual guidance in all weather conditions is of the utmost importance. That is why the circling guidance application is often a must have for airports. Blog. The Importance of Apron Manoeuvring Lights and how to implement a cost efficient solution? In our next blog we dive into Apron manoeuvring lights and how they play a crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of an airport's apron area, where most aircrafts are parked, loaded, unloaded, refuelled, or boarded. A very specific area where it's often difficult and expensive to install apron lighting. But a safe apron area shouldn't come at a huge cost or lead to complicated implementations. We explore how and why. Read more in our blog here: https://loom.ly/pKoYZQo #apron #costefficient #led #safety #airplaneparking
