We're thrilled to have participated in the Blue Planet Economy Expo forum in Rome this week! During our talk, "Blue Business Opportunities: how to generate value for companies while protecting the ocean," we introduced the concept of Blue Business Opportunities - innovative approaches that help companies create new sources of revenue, cut costs, promote business resilience, and enhance reputation and brand image all while sustainably utilising marine resources.💡 Why are these opportunities becoming increasingly important today? In a world that demands sustainable and innovative solutions, they give companies a competitive edge by reducing environmental impact and unlocking new markets. We dove into the environmental and economic benefits of the Blue Economy, focusing on: 🐟Blue Food: sustainable fisheries and aquaculture. 🌬️Offshore Wind Energy: clean energy innovation. 🪸Sustainable Maritime Tourism: travelling with respect for nature. Curious about how these opportunities can transform your business? Or how companies can make a real difference in protecting the ocean? Chi siamo
One Ocean Foundation (OOF), founded in March 2018, is an Italian initiative of international relevance for the protection of the ocean. The Foundation’s mission is to accelerate solutions to ocean issues by inspiring international leaders, companies, institutions and individuals; promoting a sustainable blue economy and spreading knowledge on marine ecosystems through ocean literacy. The Foundation’s aim is to become an active platform capable of bringing together and consolidating all the realities operating for the protection of the ocean in various parts of the world. The distinctive element of One Ocean Foundation is represented by an important network of partner companies, a scientific committee of international relevance and, at the same time, a strong commitment to raise awareness among the new generations. Thanks to its partners, One Ocean Foundation is engaged in multiple projects and activities related to its mission divided into three macro areas: blue economy, education and environmental. Our code of ethics is the Charta Smeralda, an innovative document developed by our Scientific Committee, accessible through the website www.1ocean.org that guides individuals and organizations towards behaviors that respect the marine environment.

This #WorldFoodDay, let’s dive into the power of Blue Foods! 🌊 Blue foods—plants, animals, and algae sourced from aquatic environments—are vital to global nutrition and sustainability. They provide essential protein to 3.2 billion people and support the livelihoods of 800 million, particularly in coastal and Indigenous communities. What makes blue foods even more remarkable? They’re environmentally sustainable, using less water and land compared to traditional farming. By embracing blue foods, we can help address malnutrition, disease, and even climate change. 🌡️ Our Blue Economy team has been actively exploring ways to enhance sustainability in the agrifood, fishing, and aquaculture sectors. We’re identifying key practices that companies can adopt to drive positive change. 🐟 By promoting responsible fishing, sustainable aquaculture, and organic farming, we aim to reduce waste, conserve water, and prevent pollution—critical steps toward a more sustainable and resilient food system. Discover how blue foods can shape a more sustainable future for all. What is biodiversity, and what is the impact of human activities on it? How does managing marine resources sustainably make companies more competitive in the market? Our Operations Director, Giulio Magni, along with Valeria Barbi, Alessandro Solazzi and Daniele Valiante, addressed these important questions during the latest edition of the Pianeta Terra Festival, held in Lucca from October 3 to 6, 2024. A sincere thank you to Findus Italia (Nomad Foods) for their support and for believing in our projects. Together, we can make a difference! 👏🏻 #OneOceanFoundation #Biodiversity #PianetaTerraFestival #Findus #OceanConservation #Sustainability #MarineEcosystems #WeAreAllOneOcean

🚨 Earth may have breached seven of nine planetary boundaries The first Planetary Health Check by the PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research is out, and the results are alarming. OCEAN ACIDIFICATION is on the brink of surpassing its critical threshold, becoming the seventh of the nine identified planetary boundaries to be crossed. 🌊 OCEAN ACIDIFICATION is the increasing acidity (decreasing pH) of ocean water due to the absorption of CO2. This poses a significant threat to marine ecosystems, impacting calcifying organisms, such as corals, and jeopardizing the ocean's role as a vital carbon sink. If this continues, we risk the collapse of ocean food webs and the loss of biodiversity. The report highlights how deeply interconnected Earth’s systems are. To tackle these challenges, we must adopt a systemic, collective approach. At One Ocean Foundation, we are committed to providing tangible solutions to raise awareness and combat ocean issues on a global scale. 🌐 Together, we can work towards a safer, more sustainable future for all. 🌍✨ Explore the full report here: https://lnkd.in/e_2Rdnj4 #OneOceanFoundation #Sustainability #ClimateAction #PlanetaryBoundaries #OceanConservation #OneOcean #SystemicChange #FutureGenerations

Our educational game ‘L'Avventura dell'Acqua’ (The Adventure of Water) created special moments this summer for the young visitors of the Jonian Dolphin Conservation in Taranto and the Centrale Dell'acqua Milano in Milan! ✨ It was incredible to see so many curious kids explore the path of water, from the glaciers to the sea. The experience stimulated a deep reflection on the issue of water pollution and raised environmental awareness among the youngest. 👩🏫 If you are a fourth or fifth grade teacher, participate to our educational projects!
