Glenn Martens, Creative Director at Diesel, was a guest speaker at the second edition of Vogue’s Forces of Fashion event in Rome. In conversation with Luke Leitch, Glenn Martens highlighted Diesel’s role as a platform for engaging and amplifying important themes, as illustrated by Diesel’s bold, socially charged runway shows—from the video call with 1.000 members of the public around the world at the FW24 fashion show, to the most recent immersive set up built with recycled denim scraps at Milan Fashion Week in September. Diesel has always focused on delivering important social messages, and today, Glenn Martens aims to continue along this path, which is also inspired by denim itself. "Denim is a democratic fabric. Our congratulations to BRAVE KID who has launched a new e-commerce reusable packaging, powered by Movopack. A cutting-edge solution, boosting operational efficiency while cutting down on waste. The packaging can be reused up to 20 times, leading to a 75% reduction in CO₂ emissions, a 72% decrease in energy use, and 75% less water consumption compared to traditional single-use packaging alternatives. Ensuring product authenticity is a key element in OTB's sustainability strategy to guarantee consumer safety and protect the integrity of our Brands. As part of our monitoring and prevention strategies to fight counterfeiting, the RTW, Shoes & Bags collection of our brands are equipped with different kinds of solutions. Starting with the FW 24/25 collections, all the above-mentioned product categories of all products by JIL SANDER, Maison Margiela and Marni embed a digital authenticity certificate and are registered on the blockchain provided by the Aura Blockchain Consortium. Whereas for Diesel, starting with FW21, all these product categories have been equipped with a QR code and a 12-digit numerical code or a NFC technology that create a unique digital identity, which customers can scan or tap to confirm the authenticity of their purchase.
