Recently, Chicago’s Young Professional Group had the pleasure of seeing how one of our projects comes to life during a tour of the Evanston Main Street Improvement Project, which aims to enhance the public space and infrastructure in the area. The group got to explore the City of Evanston, Illinois, while learning about the design process and hard work put in: - coordinating with local businesses to ensure their needs are met; - acquiring Right-of-Way Easements, essentials to use public or private land for the project; - coming up with innovative solutions to ensure ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessibility while working around existing structures and geometry. Today at the Monaco Yacht Show S.A.M., we joined other leading global classification societies in announcing the establishment of the Yacht Safety and Environmental Consortium. This new consortium is committed to promoting and advising on achieving the best practices in the yachting sector which has a considerable need for a unified consortium of class societies. It aims to focus on safety and environmentally conscious behavior of commercial and pleasure yachts of over 24 meters in length. The consortium will leverage the collective expertise of its members to support the yachting industry tackling challenges during yacht design and operation by promoting best practices in safety and sustainability, to advising on industry standards and fostering collaboration. #GrowWithRINA

At Gastech 2024 we awarded two Approval in Principle to Gas and Heat S.p.A and Wärtsilä Marine for two designs of bunkering ships with dynamic positioning systems, optimized to deliver and operate on green ammonia fuel. The sustainable project includes two different ammonia bunker ship designs, 20.000 cbm and 8.000 cbm, running on green ammonia as main fuel and biofuel (HVO) as secondary fuel with hybrid propulsion systems driven by DF Gen-Sets, optimized for any operational profile as sailing or bunkering. • RINA Notation Hybrid Propulsion System: ensuring that ship’s operations are optimized during sailing and bunkering modes • RINA Notation DYNAPOS: DP2 operation mode integrated with Battery Powered, allowing minimized operating Gen-Set, lowering running hours and consumption • Wärtsilä designed machinery configuration running on ammonia through an integrated system development approach: enabling flexibility and optimisation in every operating condition (sailing, bunkering, port, DP2 with thrusters) • Wärtsilä LLC System: delivering higher efficiency, low voltage distribution, increased redundancy with optimized Wärtsilä 25 Gen-Sets, and no transformers required for propulsion • Gas and Heat design of cargo and gas fuel supply system: meeting the machinery’s needs • Gas and Heat system: optimizing the safe handling of bunkering operations and streamlining the product transfer #GrowWithRINA
