This year, we were once again present at the ECOMONDO - ITALIAN EXHIBITION GROUP! Through meetings and events, we had the opportunity to present the REMEDIES project alongside Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche during the session titled “Boosting Technology and Business Models for the Implementation of the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters in the Mediterranean.” During the event, we showcased the project and explained how each of the involved parties is actively contributing to the challenge of reducing plastic pollution and improving ocean health. Per la terza data del festival "Nuovi orizzonti sostenibili: Terra, impresa e Spazio", mercoledì 13 novembre alle 20:30, ci sposteremo a Bassano del Grappa. A Villa Rezzonico Luca Barbieri, Consulente per la comunicazione di centri di ricerca, PMI innovative e startup, imprenditore e giornalista modererà il Dialogo Culturale tra Stefania De Pascale e Nicola Rubini. Luca Barbieri aiuterà quindi il pubblico a comprendere le connessioni esistenti tra la sostenibilità sulla Terra e le sfide dell'agricoltura nello Spazio, sottolineando quanto l'esplorazione spaziale, lungi dall'essere un mero esercizio di ambizione umana, sia un luogo adatto allo sviluppo di tecnologie innovative che possono trovare applicazione diretta sulla Terra. Barbieri ci aiuterà a capire quanto soluzioni innovative e modulari come quelle ideate da River Cleaning siano utili non solo per pulire i fiumi e ripristinare gli ecosistemi acquatici ma anche per migliorare la qualità della vita delle persone. Luca Barbieri è consulente per la comunicazione di centri di ricerca, PMI innovative e startup, è inoltre imprenditore e giornalista. Dopo tredici anni in RCS dove ha collaborato alla nascita e al lancio di Corriere Innovazione, ha co-fondato Blum, società di consulenza che aiuta imprese innovative grandi e piccole e centri di ricerca a crescere attraverso comunicazione, media relation ed eventi. Investitore e mentor di numerose startup, insegna Linguaggio Giornalistico all’Università di Padova e Comunicazione dell’Innovazione al Moim Master in Open Innovation Management dello stesso ateneo. È stato curatore della collana «Le guide di Corriere Imprese» e di «Vertical Innovation». The River Cleaning Vela 01 system, located in Quarto d'Altino (Venice), is designed to intercept floating waste in both directions, as tidal changes reverse the water current, moving debris from the mouth upstream. The system is fully automated: the rotation of the buoys and the photovoltaic panels generate electricity used to lift the system, perform self-cleaning cycles, and power the video surveillance and remote control systems. Did you know that the #RiverCleaning system ensures no negative impact on aquatic flora and fauna? The system is designed to allow the safe passage of fish and other aquatic animals, because the positioning of the rotating buoys within the first 30-40 cm from the water surface does not hinder their passage. At River Cleaning, respecting the environment, including both flora and fauna, is of utmost importance to us. In the autumn of 2024 on the Po di Gnocca, downstream of the well-known Ponte delle Barche bridge on one of the main branches of the Po Delta, the River Cleaning barrier will be installed in a fully automated version. It will be complemented by the collection tank developed by the Greek partner MINDS, with the aim of creating a hybrid technology capable of actively blocking macro-plastics 24/7, self-sufficient, and simultaneously conducting waste analysis through machine learning. These actions will be implemented as part of the four-year Inspire Europe project, funded by #HorizonEurope and part of the mission ‘Restore our oceans and waters by 2030’. The end of May marked another important milestone for MAELSTROM_H2020, with the annual international workshop. There is no better conclusion than a new start.
