🌍 Exciting News in Our Project! 🚗 Yesterday, our SMT (Sustainable Mobility Team) joined OPV Solution S.r.l. to check out their innovative electric microcar. We are thrilled to announce that we will be integrating this microcar with a hydrogen fuel cell stack, marking a significant milestone in our journey. 💧Our project aims at developing a microcar with a hybrid powertrain, combining the efficiency of electric powertrain with the sustainability of hydrogen fuel cells, significantly reducing emissions (Zero Local Emissions!) and promoting sustainable mobility in urban areas. A sustainable microcar is perfect for urban environments with limited parking and heavy traffic, offering lower emissions and high efficiency. This approach not only extends the driving range compared to purely electric vehicles but also allows to increase the capability of exploiting renewables by producing hydrogen during excess of Energy production. 🌟 Exciting News 🌟 We are thrilled to announce our participation in the event "POR H2 - Organismi di Ricerca e Università insieme per lo sviluppo della filiera nazionale dell'idrogeno," organized by #ENEA, #RSE, and #CNR. 🌍💡 We are proud to share that today, Professor Vincenzo Mulone presented our innovative project on HTPEM (High-Temperature Proton Exchange Membrane fuel cells), highlighting the challenges in modeling and designing high-temperature stacks and showing the preliminary results obtained from the experimental campaign. We strongly believe that this technology will play a crucial role in reducing the need for pure hydrogen and mitigating the reliance on catalysts. Tomorrow, Professor Stefano Cordiner will present our work on membrane-assisted thermolysis. He will discuss our efforts in designing an innovative reactor powered by CSP that enables water thermolysis at lower temperatures. This is made possible through the selective permeability of the membranes to hydrogen and oxygen. We are eager to receive your feedback, insights, and comments and to share our results with you. On Thursday 27/06 we had a meeting for the ongoing "BEVolution" of the project. We got the possibility to meet our collegues from University Niccolò Cusano for defining the short- and long-term steps. The revolution of BEVs development has officially started! On the one side, the Energy Model was scrambling to get the detailed data to be calibrated with, highlighting high potential in estimating the vehicle performance throughtout different missions while shortening the computational time and reducing costs! On the other side, the detailed Digital Twin was asking an urgent change in the paradigm of vehicle development, underling the terrifying impact of the external conditions on the main Key Performance Parameters, i.e. efficiency of the powertrain and drivability range! Up to 25 % of range decrease can be faced under severe weather conditions, and logistic operators need a mandatory increase in efficiency for changing their traditional light-duty commercial vehicles into a more sustainable fleet! The BEVolution than starts from the issue of optimizing the design of BEVs, in terms of powertrain and auxiliary technologies, as for instance the air conditioning, while co-optimizing the control logics. The interconnectivity between the Detailed and Energy models in a closed loop is then the core of the novel approach, enphasizing the call for multi-purpose modeling. We are delighted to annouce our partecipation to the European Conference of Biomass and Exhibition #EUBCE ! Our PhD student Pietro Mele will present our last experimental work on hydrotreatment of pyrolysis oil, carried out in collaboration with UCL Bioenergy Technologies Research Lab on Monday 24th of June 2024 at 5:30 p.m. (Poster Session 3AV.6). 🌿 Two residual biomass were pyrolitically converted at 500°C to pyrolysis oil; 🔍 The activity of molybdenum/nickel oxides alumina supported catalyst was evaluated for hydrotreatment at mild operating conditions; 💧 Hydrogen consumption was calculated, evaluating the possible integration of the process with other technologies.
