Accelerating the digital transformation of three historic buildings across Europe towards climate neutrality.
Chi siamo
SMARTeeSTORY is a Horizon Europe project funded by the European Commission (GA number 101103956). We are turning historical buildings into climate-neutral landmarks - in Latvia, the Netherlands and Spain. At SMARTeeSTORY, we develop smart, automated, and digital control systems to monitor and optimize the energy performance of historic buildings while preserving their unique identity and physical integrity.

📚 New overview article: What makes a building ‘smart’: technologies driving energy efficiency Smart buildings are revolutionizing energy efficiency by using advanced technologies to monitor and optimize resource use. The EU's Energy Performance of Buildings Directive aims for a zero-emission building stock by 2050, promoting smart building adoption through various initiatives. The Horizon 2020 EXCESS project showcases how nearly zero-energy buildings can become plus-energy buildings with smart technologies, enhancing both energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality. 🤓 Click here to read the article: https://lnkd.in/duwXQRWT #EnergyEfficiency #EPBD #Smartbuilding #Sustainability

🐟Protect the goldfish: Accounting for the unpredictable with personalized shading systems In an apartment in France, they have windows equipped with a shading syste system. All five windows work in unison, except for one, which stays constantly closed. Why? To protect the Goldfish on the windowsill from the sun. 🪟Pellini supplies SMARTeeSTORY with smart shading systems for the implementations in Granada, Delft, and Riga. They use an integrated approach to tailor their solutions to varying contexts and needs. 💺 Smart and automated technology in your home is meant to enhance your living comfort! This is exactly what SMARTeeSTORY's ambition is in our three heritage building sites. Read more👉 https://lnkd.in/eSWqAd3R #energyefficiency #smartbuildings #livingcomfort

🔧 Tackling the Challenges of Building Energy Performance: SMARTeeSTORY's Modelling Handbook SMARTeeSTORY implements smart technologies into historical building. to improve its energy performance. The Modelling Handbook is designed to address critical needs in forecasting how buildings will use energy over both short and long-term periods. With physical-based models that generate synthetic data, it ensures accurate predictions, helping us fine-tune our strategies early on. 💡 Why It Matters: • Accurate energy performance predictions are crucial for sustainability and efficiency • It supports interconnected models for energy use, thermal comfort, indoor air quality, and lighting The guide is a valuable tool for researchers, professionals, and anyone involved in building performance and sustainability. 📘 Stay tuned to explore the handbook once it becomes available! 👉https://lnkd.in/etwKNYTT #EnergyPerformance #BuildingEfficiency #Research

Last week, SMARTeeSTORY partners gathered for our first review meeting alongside our project officer, Juan Carlos Espada Suarez. We reflected on the first 18 months of the project, and so much has already been achieved! Beyond the 19 deliverables, we are especially proud of the incredible progress happening at our three demo sites: 🔹Riga City Hall, Latvia 🔹Faculty of Architecture at TU Delft, Netherlands 🔹Royal Chancellery in Granada, Spain While there is still much to be done, we are moving forward with device installations and monitoring campaigns - on the right track to transforming historic buildings into climate-neutral landmarks. 💡 Our Vision with SMARTeeSTORY We are developing a smart, integrated building automation and control system to monitor and optimise energy performance in historic non-residential buildings. Our approach follows an innovative multi-domain methodology (aligned with the Smart Readiness Indicator - SRI), considering: ✅ The unique requirements of historic buildings ✅ Human-centric needs ✅ Real-time & active user engagement 📢 Visit our website for details: https://lnkd.in/e6QiwWEH A big shout-out to our amazing partners: RINA - TECNALIA Research & Innovation - Technical University of Delft - Rīgas Tehniskā universitāte (Riga Technical University) - Pellini - Agencia Andaluza de la Energía - Cuerva - CARTIF - Schneider Electric - EXUS AI LABS - Tera srl - Steinbeis Europa Zentrum #SmartHistoricBuildings #SmartBuildings #EnergyEfficiency #SRI
