BEST COMBINATION OF ENERGY AND EFFICIENCY FOR R-PET RECYCLING The combination of infrared radiations and vacuum is the most energy-efficient and high-performance system for heating recycled PET to high temperatures while keeping it in a solid state within an inert environment. MOBY utilizes this combination and enhances it with intense mixing of the recycled PET during treatment, enabling Solid State Polycondensation (SSP) not only on BOTTLE-FLAKES, but also on TRAY-FLAKES, PREFORM and STRAPPING REGRINDS, or even a mix of different PET sources. FROM MOBY TO EXTRUDER FOR HIGH-IV APPLICATIONS The unique combination of infrared radiations and vacuum allows MOBY to operate directly on PET regrinds and achieve very high viscosity levels. The processed PET can therefore be suitable for applications requiring high-tenacity or particularly advanced mechanical properties. For example, in strap extrusion, it's possible to get high-tenacity strap just starting from 100% R-PET bottle-flakes, without tricking the material with expensive pellets or chain-extenders. All of this is achieved without the use of nitrogen: just from MOBY to extrusion in a continuous mode. PET CANNOT BE RECYCLED INDEFINITELY. With each recycling cycle, it loses mechanical properties until it becomes unusable. The only way to make PET a truly infinitely recyclable material is to restore its mechanical properties. In other words, to recover its intrinsic viscosity. MOBY, thanks to the combined action of infrared radiations and vacuum, performs the so-called Solid State Polycondensation (SSP), a thermal treatment in an inert environment that enables the restoration of the polymer’s molecular chains. MOBY does not use nitrogen and operates on solid-state materials. Its performance in increasing the intrinsic viscosity of PET makes it particularly suitable for BOTTLE-TO-BOTTLE and TRAY-TO-TRAY processes, as well as innovative applications such as TRAY-TO-BOTTLE.
