Many #3D users are laying off, firing and closing their #3D departments
Please do not do that, read till the end and watch the video if you feel you are open and ready to Pivot.
STOP before you really do fire them or close the departments, you can still salvage. Yes, i am speaking of #3D systems adopted by these corporations with $$$ Millions invested in systems, People, Fabric testing machines, training and paying annual support & even FORCED their vendors to get same system that added no value.
We in USA and Europe started the outsourcing with sending CUT and SEW at overseas factories but we did all the Product Development Processes in-house, and sent it to overseas factories with a SEW BY SAMPLE, does anyone remember that ????
Anyone remember the phrase " I will give you a PHOTO, you make the PROTO"
This is what we call the 'Birth of Influencers'. (Liz Claiborne Disaster Timeline — Fortune 500 to Failure) Liz management closed and let 500 people go, closed the New Jersey facility and eventually ended up going out of business., what used to take 12 hours, was now taking 12 weeks, many of these Pattern makers were re-hired to communicate with vendors working in different time zones speaking different languages via TECH PACKS
That was the Birth of Tech Packs.
Do you ever hear from your designer, "THIS IS NOT WHAT I WANTED" when the first sample arrives and you have it on your fit model that was made from a Tech Pack????
97% said yes.
The design process started NOW, now that The designer have a real garment, the list of changes are sent to Vendor.
We still made the Tech packs and then replaced our First pattern makers who made the LOOK SAMPLE on a 3D but that made the matters worse for the vendors who were facing with getting a FIT Sample approve to get started,
What did we learn??
sometime one needs to go back and see what worked? well it was when we were all in the same building, same location, the Designer, the sample room, the Showrooms, the Pattern Room, the Sample sewing room, the fit model and the approvers in the same place.
we started and approved the product within hours.

We had cloth cover DUMMIES that never worked but now the same dummies are the Start of #3d process and they will NEVER fit. It has different shape than then Fit model.
I am going to share a video that takes care of all the players who add value to same product and share the skills but globally connected to same product.
