📣 WIIS Italy invites you to an online event on “WOMEN FOR PEACE AND SECURITY. A Focus on Women’s Resilience and Advocacy in Ukraine”, on March 17, 2025, from 12:00–13:30 PM CET. WIIS Italy is pleased to invite you to join this virtual event to highlight women’s resilience and advocacy in #Ukraine’s conflict-affected areas. The event will highlight the importance of women’s participation in decision-making platforms focused on de-escalation, conflict mitigation, and rebuilding efforts. It will be a crucial opportunity to amplify women’s voices in peace and security discussions and to advocate for an inclusive, gender-responsive reconstruction process. In 2024, Women in International Security (WIIS) Italy conducted extensive consultations with representatives of Ukrainian organizations and independent researchers to examine the roles women play in promoting peace and security in Ukraine. These efforts culminated in the production of the report “Women for Peace and Security – A Focus on Women’s Resilience and Advocacy in Ukraine” (https://lnkd.in/dqfwyEE9), which will serve as the foundation of discussion at the event. This initiative is promoted within the broader project “Women for peace and security in Ukraine: promotion of dialogue and strategic coordination”, promoted and implemented by WIIS Italy with the support of the Directorate-General of Political Affairs and Security of the Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale. So grateful to join the WIIS Italy led initiative Women’s Mediators, Peacebuilders, and Leaders Mentoring Programme as a mentor. This initiative supports #Afghan women in the #diaspora advocating for peace, justice, and security. This programme includes components that foster #mentor engagement, learning opportunities, and the production of knowledge. Mentees will develop concrete #advocacy initiatives targeting peace and justice in #Afghanistan and contribute to a booklet on #WPS through written articles and analysis. During this initiative, I look forward to exchanging experiences and both guiding & learning from these awesome women, who show resilience and perseverance in the face of immense challenges. At the end of the day, its all about building and strengthening a global #sisterhood of #peacebuilders committed to a safer and fairer world. This programme will empower women with mediation, conflict resolution, and leadership skills—helping them amplify their voices, build networks, and drive change for a more just and peaceful future. As a mentor, I’m eager to share, learn, and be inspired by their resilience and leadership. This journey is about solidarity, empowerment, and strengthening a global sisterhood of peacebuilders.
