🔬 Robotic vs. Manual Total Knee Arthroplasty: Cost and Quality Comparison 🔬 Uno studio condotto su oltre 4.700 pazienti ha confrontato la protesi totale di ginocchio assistita da robot (RTKA) e quella manuale (MTKA) in termini di costi e risultati per pazienti operati da chirurghi di alto volume. 📊 Principali risultati: • Il tempo operatorio è stato più lungo per RTKA (+32 minuti) rispetto a MTKA. • Il costo totale per RTKA è risultato significativamente maggiore ($11.615 vs. $8.674 per MTKA). • Nessuna differenza significativa nella durata della degenza ospedaliera o nelle complicazioni a 90 giorni. • RTKA ha portato a meno riammissioni a 30 giorni (1.2% vs. 4.9% per MTKA). • L’assistenza domiciliare post-operatoria è stata più frequente per RTKA (38% vs. 29%). 🔍 Conclusione: RTKA è una procedura più costosa e lunga, ma con un tasso di riammissione inferiore. 🔹Un gruppo di scienziati del Centro Tedesco di Ricerca sul Cancro ha raggiunto un progresso nella chirurgia endoscopica minimamente invasiva utilizzando piccoli robot chiamati TrainBots. Questi minuscoli dispositivi sono stati in grado di navigare con precisione attraverso il dotto biliare di organi di maiale, guidando un elettrodo per rimuovere ostruzioni tramite elettrocauterizzazione. I TrainBots, controllati magneticamente, hanno dimostrato la loro capacità di eseguire compiti complessi in ambienti scivolosi, aprendo potenzialmente la strada a nuove applicazioni in interventi chirurgici endoscopici più avanzati.
