The United Nations has marked September 15th as the International Day of Democracy. 🕊 ✊On this day the UN urges all governments to promote and uphold the principles of democracy. Democracy is a form of government in which citizens exercise power by voting📜 Democracy is built on a foundation of inclusion. 👫 Equal treatment and participation are also important components. Democracy is also a building block for peace ☮ and human rights. Countries with democracies have a constitution, which helps to create an environment of protection for its citizens. 🌎Democratic states also are less likely to breed terrorists. "Rafforzare le nostre voci:  Giornata Internazionale della Democrazia" Oggi, in occasione della Giornata Internazionale della Democrazia, celebriamo i valori fondamentali di libertà, uguaglianza e partecipazione che costituiscono il fondamento delle società democratiche. La democrazia non riguarda solo il diritto di voto, ma anche l'avere voce in capitolo nelle decisioni che riguardano le nostre vite e ritenere responsabili coloro che sono al potere. Questa giornata serve a ricordare che la democrazia richiede l'impegno attivo di tutti noi. Si tratta di garantire che tutti, indipendentemente dal background, abbiano pari opportunità di contribuire alla definizione del nostro futuro condiviso. In un mondo in cui i principi democratici sono sempre più minacciati, è più importante che mai difendere questi valori. Promuoviamo la trasparenza, sosteniamo elezioni libere ed eque e lavoriamo per una governance inclusiva che rappresenti veramente la volontà del popolo. In questa Giornata Internazionale della Democrazia, riaffermiamo il nostro impegno a costruire democrazie più forti e resilienti per tutti.

WHO IS KILLING DEMOCRACY? This is a thought-provoking book that delves into the intricate workings of our economic and political systems. Through a comprehensive analysis, J. Dhopte exposes the hidden forces and individuals responsible for rigging the system in favour of the wealthy and powerful. As per Adam Smith in the book - The Wealth of Nation in 1776, - a free market is able to automate and regulate itself, but it is limited by the privileges given to certain members within the economy. Elites use institutions to manage citizen interactions. They apply their cultural dominance to make citizens echo the same pro-democracy ideas, even if they're just slogans. And this power also allows them to delegitimize fanatics and radicals. The elite have also helped reduce the level of citizen participation in democracies, as voicing your opinion and voting are all that is required, and all complex modes of engagement are left to the elites. Now, with the rapid de-legitimization of the elite, the world is increasingly seeing the rise of right-wing populists who provide "simple solutions to complex problems." One regime governs the entire area and the fate of everyone in it. This regime operates according to a single organizing principle: advancing and cementing the supremacy of one group – Jews – over another – Palestinians. Under this regime, Jewish citizens have the monopoly on political power. Only they have a true seat at the table where their fate, and the fate of Palestinians, is determined.
