It was an enlightening experience exploring the intersection of #DMA & #competitionlaw at the recent #European #Competition Day, in Budapest, alongside my fellow panelists: Assimakis Komninos, Giorgio Monti, Simon Reetz, and Gabor Gal. Grateful to the Gazdasági Versenyhivatal for the kind invitation and impeccable event organization. #antitrust; #DigitalMarketsAct

What are the challenges national judges face when enforcing national and EU #CompetitionLaw? ➡️ This new #WorkingPaper includes a collection of 28 case notes written by those national #judges who attended the European Networking and Training for National Competition Enforcers (ENTraNCE) 👉🏽 3 final conclusions: 1️⃣ National judges are increasingly confident in handling EU case-law and embedding these in their decisions. 2️⃣ National competition authorities are taking on more varied cases, ensuring effective enforcement of competition law. 3️⃣ Some fundamental issues remain unclear, requiring further advocacy by competition authorities and more guidance from the European Court of Justice in its preliminary rulings. Check out the case notes 📌https://lnkd.in/dgh8isnG 🔎 Learn more about the #ENTraNCE training: https://lnkd.in/dsDPQenG

"The Digital Markets Act one Year after: Where do we stand?" conference organized by Centre for a Digital Society, to which we attended with Özlem Başıböyük Coşkun, was a significant opportunity to listen to the lessons learnt after one year by Giorgio Monti and results achieved so far and challenges ahead by Filomena Chirico. The discussions regarding the pay and consent model and the alternative app stores were broadening one's horizons, thanks to Alexandre de Streel, Fiona Scott Morton, Friso Bostoen and all the distinguished panellists. Also special thanks to Pier Luigi Parcu, Marco Botta and the organization team. Excited to see what the future holds for the DMA, the practitioners and all the stakeholders concerned.

Last Friday, the EUI's Centre for a Digital Society organised a conference on 'The Digital Markets Act one year after: Where do we stand?'. In my panel, which I had the pleasure to share with Simonetta Vezzoso, Elżbieta Głowicka, Luigi Malferrari, and Etienne Drouard, chaired by Marco Botta, we discussed Article 5(2) DMA, the pay-or-consent business model and the Commission's Meta investigation. The views I shared are now available on the Kluwer Competition Law Blog - comments welcome! Many thanks to the conference organisers for the invitation, as well as to Lena Hornkohl and Nils Imgarten for their assitance with the publication of the post. https://lnkd.in/dkYYVcE9

Who defines the agenda of ‘frontier #AI’ innovation? Who controls the means of producing it? ➡️This article addresses key questions about #AIgovernance and the complex relationship between AI power, and the public interest. "(...) an effective response to these questions demands a fundamental rethinking of the broader political economy of AI and of the global innovation ecosystem which drives its forward progress—a rethinking that recasts this technology as a global public utility subject to democratic control, community-led agenda-setting, and society-centered regulation."
