Chi siamo

Climate change is the foremost worldwide challenge. Among those contributing factors, some of the most pressing include congestion, which costs the European economy €100 billion per year- 1% of its GDP, air pollution, affecting people’s health, and transport emissions (those from freight count 25% of total urban transport emissions). The EU Green Deal targets to reduce emissions in cities by 55% by 2030 and be climate-neutral by 2050, cannot be met only by vehicles decarbonisation goals. MED COLOURS is a European Project funded by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme. MED COLOURS aims at upscaling to a new generation of urban logistics and planning enabling the transition to decarbonised and smart cities. By developing new SULPs, MED Cities will plan resilient, sustainable, integrated, and collaborative innovation-driven solutions for the UFAs. This would help reducing the negative impacts of freight and logistics activities.

  • 💡📚 #MED COLOURS' suggested readings for a more resilient and sustainable #UrbanLogistics! ✨ 👉🏼 How can #TransportPolicy contribute to #CommunityWellbeing? 🚶♂️🌍 ✅ The way we move in cities affects not only efficiency and emissions, but also our quality of life, social equity, and access to opportunities. However, integrating community wellbeing into #UrbanLogistics and #TransportPlanning remains a challenge. 📚 A recent study, "Improving Community Wellbeing through Transport Policy: a literature review and theoretical framework, based on the Capability Approach" by Marco van Burgsteden, Anna Grigolon & Karst Geurs (09 Jul 2024 - Transport Reviews), explores how the 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 can help policymakers assess transport policies beyond traditional metrics like speed and congestion. Instead, it emphasizes 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, ensuring that transport policies enhance wellbeing rather than just mobility. 🚴♀️🏙️ 🔍 Read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/dKUN6nBr 🚀 The #MEDCOLOURS project embraces this vision, promoting 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 in six cities across Europe - Livorno, Cesena, Thessaloniki, Koper, Lisbon, and Lyon - through innovative pilot actions and the development of 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗨𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘀 (𝗦𝗨𝗟𝗣𝘀). 🎯 Our goal? • 💡📚 #MEDCOLOURS' suggested readings for a more resilient and sustainable #UrbanLogistics! ✨ 👉🏼 How will #ReCommerce change #LastMileLogistics? 📦 As #eCommerce continues to expand, the environmental challenges it poses are becoming increasingly evident, particularly from the perspective of #LastMile #Logistics. ✅ A more sustainable approach to #OnlineShopping is emerging through re-Commerce, which involves buying, selling, exchanging or renting used items. #SecondHand online platforms are gaining significant popularity: 📈 The European re-Commerce market is expected to grow to €120bn by 2025 (+60%) 📈 Its share of e-Commerce will grow from 10% to 14%. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲-𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲-𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁-𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀. 𝗛𝗼𝘄? 💡 Two last-mile experts, Marek Rozycki and Professor Arkadiusz Kawa, attempted to answer this question in their article for Parcel and Postal Technology International . The full article is available here 👉🏻 https://lnkd.in/eEciaSKp Their insight shows that the functioning of the circular economy, especially online, is unthinkable without an effective #LogisticsProcess. This requires an integrated approach, flexibility and sustainable solutions. 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲-𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆, 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁-𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆. 🏪📦 The most cost-efficient forms of delivery, the experts conclude, are #ParcelLockers and #PickUpPoints, as multiple shipments can be delivered simultaneously to one location. Additionally, buyers and sellers personally pick up and deliver items to the #OOH point, avoiding the need for door-to-door first or last-mile delivery. Furthermore, this OOH solution is more environmentally friendly. 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗿𝗲-𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀. 👉🏻 Within the #MEDCOLOURS project, alternative and more sustainable delivery solutions and methods will be tested, making urban logistics more efficient and sustainable. 🎯 MED COLOURS involves 6 cities (Livorno, Cesena, Thessaloniki, Koper, Lisbon, and Lyon) in the implementation of 5 #PilotActions and 6 #SustainableUrbanLogisticsPlans, with the objective of upscaling towards a new generation of logistics and urban planning that allows the transition towards decarbonised and smart cities. ℹ️ Find out more about our project: https://lnkd.in/dVt-PCmS

  • 💡📚 #MEDCOLOURS suggested readings for a more resilient and sustainable #UrbanLogistics! ✨ 👉🏼 Can digitising the #curbside make #logistics loading and unloading more efficient? 📦 ❗ Logistics is vital for a thriving #CityEconomy. However, the management of urban logistics must urgently evolve as #congestion, #pollution and increasing pressure on #UrbanSpaces reach critical levels. ✅ One of the issues to be managed is certainly the space required for loading and unloading at the curbside, which often leads to chaotic and unsafe situations. Cities must manage scarce public space in a sustainable and efficient manner. For logistics, this requires a shift from the ‘first come, first served’ approach to a system of booked and guaranteed spaces and ‘pay-per-use’ models. 💡 The solution: in 2023, Coding the Curbs (an EIT Urban Mobility project 2023) implemented 3 #SmartZones together with the cities of #Bucharest (Romania), #Groningen (Netherlands), and #Riga (Latvia), marking the arrival of Europe’s first-ever bookable and multifunctional loading and unloading bays. 🎯 Through a custom-built booking application, logistics companies can now reserve curbside space in advance. This system ensures that goods are loaded and unloaded safely, without delays or unnecessary driving, reducing the risks posed by illegal parking and enhancing the sustainability of the #LogisticsChain. 🔍 Eager to discover all the lessons learnt and deepen this pioneering project?
