Job Description

  • The Controls Technician will be part of a team responsible for ensuring timely repair of equipment as well as develop preventative maintenance measures on all equipment.  Help to source spare parts within budget and keep readily in stock. 

  • Perform work consisting of, but not limited to, the maintenance, repair and adjustment of plant machinery and equipment control systems and the installation, testing and repair of electrical circuits for manufacture equipment. 

  • Diagnose and correct issues with machinery and equipment controls 

  • Ensure that PLC and software control systems for all of the equipment in the facility are operating properly 

  • Work from drawings, sketches, prints and schematic diagrams 

  • Identify technologies for use in cell manufacturing such as machine vision and linear servo conveyance to optimize the cell manufacturing process and equipment.  

  • Equipment design responsibilities will include the design of sensing strategies, specification of appropriate hardware and components, and implementation of robust control strategies, reliable safety systems, and operator-friendly HMIs.  

  • Help to develop controls standards and specifications 

  • Install conduit, wire, motors, switchgear, switches, contactors, and control devices 

  • Maintain quality standards 

  • Maintain good housekeeping 

  • Adhere to plant regulations and safety rules 

  • Utilize all necessary tools, manuals and equipment to efficiently perform the job 

Qualifications

  • 1-3 + years of hands-on Controls Engineering experience in a fastpaced manufacturing environment  

  • AA in Electrical Engineering, Controls & Computer Control Systems, Mechatronic Engineering, or similar technical field or equivalent industrial experience 

  • Familiarity with common controls hardware components used in high volume manufacturing 

  • Experience programming Siemens, Allen Bradley, or Beckhoff PLCs 

  • Experience programming safety PLCs (SIMATIC Safety Integrated, Allen Bradley Control Logix, or Beckhoff TwinSAFE) 

  • Experience programming and simulating industrial robotics (Fanuc, Kuka, or similar)    

  • Able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. and perform the following for extended periods of time:  

  • Standing or sitting  

  • Climbing/squatting/walking  

  • Repetitive motions and lifting)
