With global cybercrime damage costs predicted to reach $10.5 trillion USD, it’s crucial that organizations can adapt quickly to developing cyber threats and that they have robust incident management and coordination plans in place. The new Information Security Incident Management standard (ISO/IEC 27035-4) has been designed to support business with managing incidents that cross organizational boundaries. It recognises the breadth of partners involved and provides guidance to support inter-organization response. This can help ensure incidents are resolved in a coordinated manner, bolstering organizational resilience against business disruptions and reducing future risks. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e2UKJtSM

India and the UK have a shared ambition to become leaders in green hydrogen, supporting the goal of global decarbonization and a net-zero future. As part of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s Standards Partnership, we've been continuing activity in India and have recently delivered a two-day event, in partnership with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) on this sustainable energy resource. The workshop brought together Indian and UK government departments, with private sector leaders, civil society representatives and international standards experts to share knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and international good practices in the sector. Speakers at the event gave insight into how standards play a role in convening industry, government, and academia to find the best way forward to develop green hydrogen and smooth the transition to net zero and included: Dr. Deepak Rai, Programme Director (Policy), NGHM, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Ms. Laura Aylett (Head of Climate and Energy, British High Commission in India, BHC), Mr. Rajeev Sharma (Deputy Director General, BIS), Mr. Paul Needley (Managing Director, Enertek International Ltd.), Ms. Abbey Dorian (Energy Sector Lead, BSI), Dr Ricky Spencer, (Product and Environmental Standards developer, BSI), Mr. Rohintan Irani, (Technical expert, BSI). This event complements existing collaboration in the area, such as the UK-India Hydrogen Hub, and on a global scale, these initiatives serve as a powerful example for global clean energy transition. Abbey Dorian, Energy Sector Lead at BSI, said, “Standards play a significant role in supporting organizations as they make the transition to net zero and accelerate progress towards a sustainable world. We’ve been delighted to partner with BIS and other industry experts on this event and share best practices to promote the speed and scale of innovation necessary to meet the challenges posed by global climate change.” We’re looking forward to progressing with more successful activity in India over the coming months through the Standards Partnership, benefitting consumers, industry, communities, and trade. The built environment industry has an important part to play in combating climate change. Invariably, participants in our research recognize net zero goals as a key part of their company's strategy. Adam Peacock, Buildings Structures Practice Leader, Aurecon, stated: "It's huge. It's in our blueprint to achieve net zero by 2025, which we're on track with, and we see a much bigger opportunity in the projects we work on." According to our survey, this positivity is consistent across the built environment life cycle, despite regional variation about where decisions on net zero are made, whether at operations or board room level. Implementation, however, is another matter. "Many organizations have made public commitments to net zero but don't have an actionable plan that will get them to their goals." says Marcella Thompson, Senior Vice President of Environmental Sustainability, Corporate Responsibility at CBRE. "The starting point is to commit to the net zero target and create a strategic road map that captures the scale of the project and prioritizes action in 'bite-sized chunks." 72% of participants say the built environment industry is adapting quickly to implement the measures needed to achieve net zero. However, the overall findings mask significant variations across regions and roles. 94% of respondents in the UAE think the industry is adapting fast, compared with just 50% in China. Our collaboration with Mott MacDonald found that government action is a key differentiating factor. Regional policies worldwide are not clear cut in helping companies on their net zero journey. However, state-backed initiatives and certification schemes have a proven track record in driving sustainable and green building designs. But with only 17% of respondents saying they would progress at a pace dictated by government mandate, it is clear that the industry isn't relying on policies and governments to do all the heavy lifting. Our new report showcases how industry leaders have pivoted into action and embedded Net Zero into their DNA, benefitting the workforce, customers and communities.
