We love our interns! It’s #NationalInternDay and we are lucky to be celebrating 106 talented individuals from all over the country. Despite progress against colorectal cancer, continuing racial disparities mean Black adults are still more likely to develop and die from this disease. A new paper, published in Journal of the National Cancer and based on research sponsored by Exact Sciences, offers new opportunities to address these disparities. The model predicts that eliminating racial disparities in follow-up colonoscopy and colonoscopy quality would dramatically reduce colorectal cancer incidence and deaths among Black adults. On Wednesday, the FDA approved an investigational device exemption (IDE) for Exact Sciences’ multi-cancer early detection (MCED) test, clearing the way for the test’s use in clinical studies. It’s a key milestone in our development of a rigorous and comprehensive MCED program. We look forward to the next phase, the launch of real-world evidence studies, in the coming months.
