✨ We were delighted to be kindly invited by Fukui Prefecture for a 2-day exploration of this beautiful region, known for its unique blend of history, craftsmanship, and natural beauty.✨ 🚆 Accessible via the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Shinagawa Station in Tokyo, Fukui offers a quick and easy connection to some of Japan's most scenic landscapes and rich cultural heritage . 👉 Day 1: Discovering Fukui’s Timeless Traditions ! 🏯 Our adventure began at the Ichijodani Asakura Family Site Museum, where we explored a 3D model of the town and visited the reconstructed Asakura family mansion, offering a fascinating glimpse into the Sengoku era. We then walked through the Ichijodani Asakura Clan Ruins, immersing ourselves in the authentic atmosphere of samurai residences and merchant homes. 🍜 For lunch, we tasted local delicacies like Shoyu katsudon and Echizen soba — delicious and authentic dishes that reflect the region's culinary traditions. 🦕 Afterwards, we visited the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum where we marveled at life-sized dinosaur skeletons and interactive exhibits. ♨️ The day concluded with a relaxing stay at Hakujukan, a serene ryokan, where we unwound in their soothing onsen and enjoyed a delicious shojin ryori-inspired dinner. 🙏 It was an unforgettable start to our journey, and we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Fukui Prefecture for making this experience possible. 🤝 The French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan is proud to have a regional office in Fukui, supporting business ties between France and Japan. 💐 Event Recap: A Conversation with World-renowned Floral Artist and Entrepreneur Nicolai Bergmann This year marks the 25th anniversary of Nicolai Bergmann’s iconic flower box - an innovation that has transformed the floral industry, leading to nearly 1.5 million orders worldwide. In collaboration with The Danish Chamber of Commerce in Japan DCCJ Chamber, American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, and the Australian and New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Japan, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Danish-born floral artist and entrepreneur. Arriving in Japan at 19, he has since built a globally recognized brand. During an engaging discussion with Steven Bleistein, Ph.D., Nicolaï Bergmann shared his journey, from setting ambitious goals to overcoming industry challenges and building strategic partnerships. The event concluded with a live floral demonstration, offering a glimpse into the creativity and craftsmanship behind his success.

👏 We are pleased to share that the French company Leroy Merlin, as part of its Vision 2035 strategy, recently embarked on a 3-day Learning Expedition to Japan, organized by the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (CCIFJ). 👏 This mission focused on two key themes: customer relationships and the circular economy, with participants divided into two groups. The 22 senior managers participating in this mission are engaged in a strategic initiative to redefine the company’s core missions and CSR commitments. By studying the Japanese approach to the circular economy and customer experience, Leroy Merlin aims to gather valuable insights that will inform their ongoing strategic transformation. 👉 Day 1 began with a seminar at the CCIFJ’s conference room, where several key experts shared their insights: • Christophe Grignon, Deputy Head of the Service Économique Régional Japon-Corée du Sud, provided an in-depth analysis of the Japanese economy. • Mehdi Matagne and Ophélie DUJAT, export advisors at the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan introduced the Japanese market and its business practices. • Benjamin Costa, Director of La Maison du Chocolat Japan, discussed the evolving customer experience in Japan. • Guillaume Dourdin, CEO of Veolia Japan & Veolia India, explored the circular economy in Japan. Following the seminar, the first group visited the Panasonic Showroom to explore their customer service strategies, and later attended a roundtable with Armel Cahierre, CEO of MILLEPORTE (K.K. B4F), focusing on Japan’s luxury e-commerce market. Meanwhile, the second group visited Try-Ie Lab at Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. to explore sustainable technologies for custom-built homes. 🛠️ The DIY and home décor sectors are experiencing strong growth in both France and Japan, driven by changing lifestyles—particularly following the COVID-19 crisis, which has emphasized the importance of home office setups and broader living environments. While the markets in both countries are distinct (with France having a strong DIY culture and Japan leaning more towards interior decoration), these differences provide valuable insights that contribute to the reflection and strategic direction of companies. 😊 Day 1 was a productive start to the Learning Expedition.
