Eli Lilly and Company has officially opened its $800 million expansion of the #Kinsale manufacturing site, marking the completion of a state-of-the-art project aimed at meeting the global demand for medicine production. The Kinsale, Ireland facility is key to maintaining the supply of Lilly's #diabetes and obesity medications. The site employs a digital-first process that integrates continuous manufacturing technology to create a new manufacturing platform for creating complex peptides. This facility was recently recognised as the #winner of the Innovation category in the prestigious “Facility of the Year” awards program run by the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE). Eli Lilly and Company expands its manufacturing footprint in #Limerick with a $1 billion investment and unveils its new $800 million facility expansion in #Kinsale. The Limerick site will create 150 additional jobs for highly skilled workers, including engineers, scientists, quality assurance professionals, and operations personnel, bringing the total to 450 employees. The Limerick facility will increase the production of biologic active ingredients for Lilly’s promising treatments for #Alzheimer’s disease. The company remains dedicated to addressing major global health issues, and the Kinsale facility is pivotal to maintaining the safe and reliable supply of Lilly’s diabetes and obesity medications. Our CEO, Michael Lohan, welcomed Lilly's announcement today, saying: "Since establishing in Ireland in 1978, Lilly’s operations here have been producing key healthcare products that have supported the fight against several of the world’s most serious illness. Ericsson celebrates the 50th anniversary of its presence in #Athlone, which has evolved from its start as a factory in 1974 to a leading software development hub. Today, the facility boasts a workforce of over 1,300 employees, making it one of the largest R&D centers in Ireland. In conjunction with the anniversary, Ericsson announced a new partnership with Enterprise Ireland and the Technological University of the Shannon which aims to enhance and streamline management of network configurations. "Beyond economic contributions, each year over 6,000 local individuals, from junior school students to adults transitioning into technology careers, have benefited from Ericsson’s presence. Dexcom’s investment in Athenry, announced in 2023, is among the largest Greenfield MedTech projects won for Ireland. The investment represents a significant opportunity for Irish based suppliers to support Dexcom’s model of sourcing materials and services locally, where possible. UKG, the largest U.S.-based private software company in the world, today announced the establishment of its newest Global Operations Hub in #Kilkenny, Ireland.
