  • Join us in celebrating International Women's Day!   Kyowa Kirin's Chief People Officer, Shoko Itagaki, shares her inspiring message on the importance of women's health, wellbeing, and breaking down barriers. 💪 Let's #AccelerateAction for a more inclusive future! 💜    ------------------------------- International Women's Day 2025: Accelerate Action for Women’s Health and Wellbeing Happy International Women’s Day! This Saturday, March 8th marks International Women’s Day (IWD). It is a global day dating back over a century to 1911, dedicated to honoring the achievements of women. As a female leader of Kyowa Kirin, I am grateful to all the pioneering women who have paved the way for us and our future female leaders. Here at Kyowa Kirin, Diversity is embedded in our DNA. Our Diversity efforts create a ‘safe space’ for all, ensuring everyone can bring their full self to work. As this year’s IWD theme emphasizes—‘Accelerate Action’—it is also a call to pay attention to women’s health and wellbeing, which has a huge impact on women’s lives, careers, and futures. Being physically and mentally resilient and energized to do one’s best work isn’t a luxury—it should be the norm for everyone. When women have access to the care they need, they thrive. And when women thrive, so does Kyowa Kirin, communities, and the patients we serve around the world. So, let’s break down barriers and start championing women’s health and wellbeing. Whether it’s supporting workplace wellbeing, advocating for better policies, or simply checking in on the women around us—every action counts. And it starts simply with caring about each other. A successful, super team is a diverse one, and it drives innovative and life-changing value creation. At Kyowa Kirin we are dedicated to creating spaces where all voices are heard and valued, and everyone feels respected and included, regardless of gender. Our commitment to Diversity remains unwavering, and we strive to provide equal opportunities for everyone to grow and thrive. Finally, I encourage you to show your support for IWD by striking the #AccelerateAction pose and sharing your photos. Let’s lift each other up, celebrate the wins, and keep pushing for a healthier, fairer future. Let's work together to accelerate action and create a more inclusive future for all. Equity is not just a goal; it’s a responsibility. For the rare disease community, equity in care and opportunities means so much more than medical access – it’s about living full, empowered lives. Together, we can create a world where everyone impacted by a rare disease has fair access to: •               Comprehensive care networks that address their unique needs. •               Inclusive educational, workplace, and societal opportunities. •               A voice at the table in decisions that affect their lives. This Rare Disease Month, let’s reimagine equity together. Let’s help remove barriers and work to create policies that will allow all patients equitable access to diagnosis, care, and the resources needed for the best possible health outcomes. Because equity is about justice, dignity, and possibility for all. #MakingPeopleSmile #RareDiseaseDay #LightUpForRare #ShowYourStripes #EURORDIS

  • Kyowa Kirin International plc. President Jeremy Morgan has shared an important message highlighting the need for equity in rare disease treatment. Please read. #RareDiseaseDay #EquityInHealthcare

    President, Kyowa Kirin International plc.

Around 300 million people worldwide live with a rare disease. While you might not meet someone with one every day, their needs are great. Imagine waiting 5–7 years for a diagnosis—only to find that access to treatment depends on where you live, your income, or how rare your condition is. For Rare Disease Day, alongside the KKI team, I recommit to ensuring equity in treatment. Every person should have the opportunity to flourish and thrive, no matter their circumstance. It’s time to refocus on ensuring rare disease treatments reach underrepresented communities, and foster collaboration between governments, pharma, and patient advocates to address access challenges. Rare doesn’t mean less important. Every person deserves access to the care they need. #RareDiseaseDay

At Kyowa Kirin, we’re committed to the continuous upskilling and development of our colleagues around the globe. One way in which we do this is by leveraging our vast network to provide short-term overseas opportunities, as part of our Global Exchange Program (GEP)., Jiajia Huang, our Corporate Communications Manager in the Tokyo office, describes his GEP experience in Marlow, UK, as a journey of growth and impact. He has outlined his top three takeaways below and shares his insights on why all colleagues should harness this wonderful opportunity: “Participating in the Global Exchange Program (GEP) has been an unforgettable experience that strengthened my expertise, built my confidence, and deepened my connections across teams and cultures. During the program, I worked on a project to assess and evolve our patient advocacy opportunities and processes. By identifying gaps and creating solutions, we’re taking steps to deliver more value to patients and society—driving sustainability and creating more smiles. Here are my key takeaways: ✅ Confidence: Adapting to a new environment and overcoming challenges in the UK reaffirmed my ability to embrace change and think strategically. ✅ Expertise: I deepened my understanding of patient advocacy and how to evolve our work to better serve patients. ✅ Connection: The meaningful relationships I built with colleagues worldwide reminded me of the power of shared purpose and collaboration.   The GEP has been transformative, blending cultural experiences with professional development. I encourage colleagues to embrace this opportunity—it’s a journey of growth, inspiration, and impact.” #KKIMakingPeopleSmile #GlobalExchangeProgram #TeamworkBeyondBorders
