A #CompliantMechanism is a mechanism that utilizes the flexibility of its material to express its function as a whole component.   At the #MitsubishiChemicalGroup, we are working to develop products that utilize knowledge of materials and molding technology in compliant mechanisms. Applicable to materials with elasticity, one-piece molding processes offer many advantages, such as 🙅prevention of foreign substance interference, 💪performance improvement, ⏳longer life, and 🔩part reduction, and are expected to be deployed in a wide range of applications. Components with compliant mechanism design have been adopted for Dymon co.,ltd.'s lunar rover “YAOKI”.

President and CEO Manabu Chikumoto visited the Mitsubishi Chemical (China) office in Shanghai.🌐   At a talk session with the presidents and leadership teams of the group companies in #China region, they discussed various projects we are starting to create new businesses and collaboration among group companies. President Chikumoto encouraged participants, saying “I hope that in the future, more innovative initiatives will be tried and tested in China and spread around the world.”👏✨   The China tour also included plant visits of three group companies in the Suzhou area: GEMtek Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Chemical Performance Polymers (China) Co., Ltd., and Suzhou MCC Opto‐Device Co., Ltd.President Chikumoto exchanged various opinions with on-site employees and expressed the importance of #SafetyFirst, #Compliance, and open and honest　communication.   #MCGLeadership

The #MitsubishiChemicalGroup's #DURABIO ™ is a bioengineering plastic derived mainly from #PlantBased isosorbide.🌱    While having glass-like transparency, this material has excellent durability and weather resistance. It is highly compatible with 3D printers and can be freely formed and given unique surface textures.    The benches created with DURABIO™ and a 3D printer are installed at our group's #ScienceInnovationCenter in Yokohama, Japan. Students of the Yokohama University Of Art and Design interacted with employees of the #MitsubishiChemicalGroup and learned about chemical recycling.🧑🔬   Many students who participated in the workshop had doubts about the mass disposal after on-campus events. 🗑️ Participants experienced relearning the correct way to separate everyday plastic waste for effective use as a resource and studied the differences and characteristics of existing #recycling and #ChemicalRecycling. In a quiz in the latter half of the workshop, some answered all the questions correctly!✨   This workshop was a valuable opportunity to think with the students about what we can do for the #environment while being exposed to the latest technology and trivia about familiar recycling.🌏♻️   For our Group, it was a meaningful exchange, as we could hear the honest impressions and perceptions of chemical recycling from consumers. In addition, a survey revealed what things participants would like to be recycled. We hope to commercialize the technologies that solve such needs.
