This time we have both brand new offerings as well as the continuation (and improvement) of some of incentive planner favorites. We hope that you will enjoy these support services exclusive to incentive groups traveling from overseas and staying in Fukuoka City for at least one night. Groups staying for a combined total of 100 nights (number of guests x number of nights each is staying) are eligible for our sustainably produced ecobags or Hakata-ori silk coasters. These are made with the unused ends of the fabric and are a highly valued traditional craft in Fukuoka. The welcome ceremony at Fukuoka Airport is still on, but be prepared to be greeted not only by our multilingual staff, but a band of ninjas as well. This is the perfect way to kick off your trip and to really get into the swing of things in Fukuoka! This is for groups staying a combined total of 200 nights. Then, finally, for groups spending a combined 400 nights we are introducing the highly popular "kagami-biraki" activity, where one gets to break open a barrel of sake for and enjoy it on the spot! This in addition to plenty of other unique performances. These are just some of the activities we have ready and available for groups, so please don't hesitate to ask us for more information if interested! You can contact us at the following email: mpf@welcome-fukuoka.or.jp  We can't wait to hear from you!

Hello everybody from Fukuoka! Every year in November, Fukuoka hosts the venerable Grand Sumo Tournament in what it is the last event of the season. Throngs of Sumo wrestlers begin appearing on the streets starting from early to mid November (this year from November 10 to 24), and a spirit of excitement begins to fill the air. However, this year we are very happy to announce that a series of s-p-e-c-i-a-l tourism packages are being unveiled just in time for the tournament in Fukuoka! These are tours that will take place throughout the two week span of the 2024 tournament. A wide variety of experiences are on offer, ranging from Sumo wrestling practice viewing to trips to Iki Island, an island sacred to the gods. Information pertaining to all of the offerings can be found in this link, and we highly encourage those interested to take a look: For more information in English please click on the following link: https://lnkd.in/g8tAtyDQ  #Meetinfukuoka #tourism #sumo #sports #authentic #tradition #tour #tournament #fun #kyushu #nagasaki

In the past there have been partnerships between Sweden and Kyushu universities in the form of the Mirai event at Kyushu University, and this looks like another excellent opportunity to further strengthen ties between Japan and Scandinavia.

Hello everybody from Fukuoka! Fukuoka is famous for its food, particularly for the tonkotsu ramen (pork-bone broth) that originated there. One of the most famous of these restaurants is Ippudo, which first started in Fukuoka in 1985. Actually, the flagship location is very close to our office in Daimyo! However, as part of their 39th anniversary celebrations, Ippudo is rolling out a vegan mazemen, or mixed noodle, to all of its Japanese branches. For those of you who don't eat pork or meat this could be an excellent chance to taste their noodles! For more information in English please click on the following link: https://lnkd.in/gFUSmEH8

Hello everybody from Fukuoka! Did you know? While mackerel is seen as one of the specialties of Fukuoka, there are plenty of other delicacies that the area is known for. Among them is "fuku", or "fugu", meaning pufferfish (fuku is the dialectical term). Requiring a license to prepare, fugu meat is very delicate, mild, and slightly sweet. It can also be prepared in many ways, from being used in hotpot, breaded and deep fried, and eaten raw as sashimi. Preparing fugu for consumption is a highly specific process, and you will only find it offered by those who have received strict and specific training in the preparation of the fish. If you are an adventurous eater and coming to Fukuoka, why not try to find a restaurant that serves it? #Meetinfukuoka #cuisine #restaurant #flavor #local #Japanesefood #sake #sushi #kaiseki #fish #seafood #blowfish *Photos provided courtesy of the Fukuoka City Government*

Hello everybody from Fukuoka! Today we will be introducing the festival of Hakata Okunchi! Considered one of Japan's three great Okunchi festivals (alongside Nagasaki and Karatsu), Okunchi is a festival held throughout October in Kushida Shrine as a way of giving thanks for the autumn harvest. There are many points worth noting, such as the ox-driven shrine procession and enormous paper lantern displays. As the weather is becoming more enjoyable seeing these events would certainly be a treat, and we hope those of you in town will consider seeing some of the events in person. We will append a small schedule of the main events below. 【Fukuoka City ranked No. 1 in the Japan's Best Cities to Live for 5 consecutive years!】 Fukuoka City ranked No. 1 for 5 consecutive years in the 2024 ranking of the Japan’s Best Cities to Live conducted by real estate companies. Fukuoka City has the highest population growth rate among the government ordinance cities in Japan, and is attracting attention as one of the fastest growing cities in Japan. In 2014, the city was designated as a National Strategic Special Zone, and since then, the city center has undergone a massive redevelopment using the National Strategic Special Zone deregulation, with office buildings and hotels opening one after another. Fukuoka City is also rich in nature, and its proximity to the sea makes it a great place for delicious seafood dishes such as sushi and oysters. Other food options such as Hakata ramen and Motsunabe (a hot pot of fish and vegetables) are also very ap pealing. We believe that these attractions have been widely recognized and have led to the city's reputation of being ranked No. 1 in "Japan's Best Cities to Live" for five consecutive years. https://lnkd.in/dk8Rw_g5 #startupcityfukuoka #startupjapan #fukuokacity
