In October 2024, SoftBank Corp., a subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp., will launch STATION Ai, Japan's largest startup support hub, in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. 🎉 Selected by Aichi Prefecture to lead this project, SoftBank Corp. will integrate advanced technologies—such as IoT, AI, robotics, and big data analysis, already in use at SoftBank Corp.'s smart building headquarters in Takeshiba—into STATION Ai, positioning the site as a catalyst for innovation, not just in #Japan but globally. With plans to house up to 1,000 companies, this will be a groundbreaking hub for open #innovation, fostering a thriving ecosystem that enables collaboration between startups and established businesses. Today marks the beginning of #GlobalGoals Week 2024, a week dedicated to action, awareness, and accountability for the Sustainable Development Goals (#SDGs). At SoftBank Group Corp., our corporate philosophy, "Information Revolution—Happiness for everyone," embodies our commitment to #sustainability. In our 2024 Annual Report, Chief Sustainability Officer Yotaro Agari highlighted the key areas of focus for us. An important step we took in the last fiscal year was to revise our material issues relating to sustainability in light of changes in both the internal and external business environment. Two issues remain paramount concerns: climate change and human capital. To address climate change, we have set a greenhouse gas emissions reduction plan as a commitment to work towards achieving Carbon Neutrality by fiscal 2030*. We have also started quantifying our Scope 3 emissions (which encompasses portfolio companies) with intentions to present a road map for reaching net zero in Scope 3 emissions at the earliest timing we can. Regarding human capital, it goes without saying that this is of crucial importance to our organization, which invests in AI and other innovative technologies. We are committed to establishing the necessary foundations that empower people to take on challenges and excel. Responsible AI is another material issue that holds the highest priority for the Group. As a leader in the AI revolution, we recognize the critical need for frameworks that promote responsible AI—frameworks designed to mitigate risks while leveraging AI's potential to create new value. In addition, there is another important step that we took last year. As an investment company, we have integrated a sustainability framework into our investment process, evaluating sustainability-related risks to promote sustainability through our investments. Our core philosophy “Information Revolution—Happiness for everyone” embodies our commitment to sustainability. We believe the Information Revolution will not only drive medium- to long-term business growth but also help realize a more sustainable world—one with autonomous driving for safer roads, remote learning for educational equality, and much more. This month marks two major milestones in the partnership between Arm and SoftBank Group Corp. Eight years ago, in September 2016, Arm became a subsidiary of SoftBank Group Corp. The acquisition of the industry-leading British #semiconductor company was a key part of the SoftBank Group's strategy to become a leader in the #AI revolution. Last year, on September 14, 2023, Arm was listed on the Nasdaq Global Select Market. As a key highlight of FY2023, Arm's share price increased significantly, contributing to a near-record high Net Asset Value (NAV) for us as of the end of FY2023. Since then, Arm has remained at the center of our AI-focused strategy as demand for Arm #chips continues to grow with the rapid advancement of AI-related technology and the advent of AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) and ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence). This year marked the 30th World Children's Baseball Fair (WCBF), held from July 28th to August 5th in Fukuoka. The WCBF2024 event brought together 99 talented young athletes from 14 countries and regions for nine days of enriching experiences. These included baseball clinics led by expert coaches from the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), international exchange games, and various cultural activities. Participants engaged in friendly competitions and community events across nine cities and towns in Fukuoka, learning and growing through their shared passion for #baseball. SoftBank Group Corp. and the Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS are proud sponsors of the WCBF, a remarkable event founded by legendary baseball players Sadaharu Oh and Hank Aaron.
