🌿 Innovative Large-Scale Biodiversity Monitoring of eDNA using CRISPR-Dx 🌿 Environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis is transforming biodiversity monitoring, but there's still room for improvement in speed and cost-efficiency. The newest paper from Ecosystems and Landscape Evolution group, ETH Zürich describes a new frontier in eDNA research - ampliscanning methodology that combines metabarcoding with CRISPR-Dx to quickly detect multiple target species with one amplification. Unlike previous CRISPR-Dx assays, ampliscanning enables faster, more cost-effective multi-species monitoring, making eDNA more practical for field applications to address the biodiversity crisis.
