The Science and Technology in Society Forum 2024 (#STSforum) was held on October 6th in Kyoto, Japan, and Taro Shimada, President and CEO of Toshiba Corporation, shared his insights on "Science and Technology for Business" during the Plenary Session. He addressed three key areas to focus on to tackle social issues, including climate change and the uneven distribution of resources: achieving a carbon-neutral and circular economy; building safe and inclusive infrastructure for everyone; and creating a connected data-driven society. 🌱🌐 He also emphasized that companies must be able to adapt to emerging AI technologies, including future updates, and that it is important to redesign product architecture in order to make it possible for constant and continuous updates of product capabilities even after deploying the product. At Toshiba, we are actively working to address significant challenges, particularly in achieving carbon neutrality, including negative carbon emissions, and promoting a circular economy, in line with our corporate vision of “Committed to People, Committed to the Future." 🌍 STS Forum 2024 Plenary Session: Science and Technology for Business: https://lnkd.in/gW8vV7-v Toshiba’s Environmental Future Vision 2050: https://lnkd.in/g22GVYAx Toshiba’s Response to the Circular Economy: https://lnkd.in/g22GVYAx #Toshiba #Technology #circulareconomy #sustainablity #carbonneutral
