Wallem Group recognised for Lifesaving commitment by U.S. Coast Guard for support to Automated Mutual Assistance Vessel Rescue System (AMVER) program. Wallem was recognized for its commitment to safety of life at sea through the AMVER Rescue System. AMVER, the Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue, is a worldwide voluntary reporting system sponsored by the United States Coast Guard. It is a computer-based global ship-reporting system used worldwide by search and rescue authorities to arrange for assistance to persons in distress at sea. The guest of honour, Deputy Consul General at the US Consulate Hong Kong and Macau, Thomas Hodges praised the AMVER programme and participating shipping companies for joining in a noble cause that began 58 years ago and, to date, has been behind the saving of 4,500 lives. A Certificate of Merit was awarded by Rear Admiral Pat De Quattro from the US Consulate in Beijing. The certificate was received on behalf of Wallem Group by Subramanian Rajagopal, Marine and Safety Director at the lunch ceremony. On receiving the award, Subramanian Rajagopal noted that “Wallem had been participating in and supporting the AMVER program for decades showing Wallem’s commitment to safety of seafarers and best practices of international law in saving lives at sea”. #Wallem #Shipmanagement #SavingLivesAtSea

Ioannis Stefanou is Managing Director, Ship Management at Wallem Group.
