How do worker training programs impact vulnerable factory workers? We recently measured the impact of Primark's 'My Life' program by speaking directly to workers who had completed the training. My Life is designed to equip workers with essential skills in three key areas: communication, knowledge of worker rights and their responsibilities, and health practices in the workplace. Through 525 phone interviews, we found: - 70% of migrant workers said their lives had 'very much improved' thanks to the training - 91% of trained workers reported improved relationships with supervisors - 77% of mill workers reported major improvements in health practices These findings demonstrate how targeted training programs can create meaningful impact in workers' lives, both inside and outside the factory. Partnering with Catalyst Fund to understand Eight Medical | Techstars ‘23’s impact has been an insightful journey into the potential of tech-driven healthcare for underserved communities. Check out some of the key insights we discovered below 👇 Eight Medical is reshaping emergency medical services (EMS) across Nigeria, where access is limited and often out of reach for those who need it most. With only 8.7% of people across Africa currently covered by EMS—and mostly in urban centers—Eight Medical is bridging critical gaps to make sure people know who to call, where to go, or what to do in an emergency. Congratulations to the team at Eight Medical and Catalyst Fund for driving meaningful, measurable change in global healthcare resilience 🌍
Earlier this year, we partnered with 60 Decibels to provide an in-depth understanding of Eight Medical | Techstars ‘23 customers, their profiles, the outcomes their experience, how satisfied they are, and their resilience to shocks 🚀 ✨ Some of the key takeaways included: 👉 78% of their custimers say they are more likely to seek treatment for medical issues because of Eight Medical. This is likely due to their limited access to similar services with 67% saying they were accessing such services for the first time. 👉 Eight Medical provides convinient and cost-effective medical services with 82% of customers rate the convenience of engaging with Eight Medical as 'very good' and 'good' 📈 🚑 We are proud to have invested in Eight Medical | Techstars ‘23, a cloud-native EMS platform that provides on-demand urgent care when and where it is needed. We collaborated with Elucid to investigate a critical question: how does healthcare access impact farmer productivity and livelihoods? By listening directly to 275 farmers across Ghana, Madagascar, Ecuador, and Venezuela, we uncovered compelling evidence that healthcare isn't just improving wellbeing—it's transforming agricultural communities. 📊 Key findings: - Farmers with healthcare access showed increased work consistency and productivity - Healthcare services significantly reduced out-of-pocket medical expenses - Direct evidence linking healthcare access to economic resilience - Data driving action: Elucid is now launching mobile clinics to reach remote communities The study confirmed Elucid's approach while highlighting the need to make healthcare more accessible, especially in rural areas. The company is taking action by bringing mobile health clinics directly to farming communities. By clearly demonstrating the positive social and economic impact of their work, Elucid has been able to attract new partners and investors, bolstering their case for co-funding opportunities that will support future expansion. Great visibility for our work with Bayer | Crop Science in Harvard Business Review. We're proud to partner in getting wellbeing data directly from farmers—a practice that is becoming increasingly mainstream in agricultural supply chains. We are excited to see more leading companies shifting towards farmer-centric approaches that support well-being.
I'm thrilled to see Harvard Business Review spotlighting 60 Decibels and Bayer | Crop Science as pioneers in impact measurement. We're moving beyond traditional metrics to capture the lived experiences of those we serve. The article centers on Farmer Reported Outcome Measures, a concept that resonates deeply with our belief that the best way to measure social impact is to listen to those experiencing that impact. We partnered with Bayer | Crop Science to evaluate their Better Life Farming (BLF) program, bringing farmers' voices to the forefront, and enriching their impact assessment with real, lived experiences. Our 2022 and 2023 studies in India dug into farmer satisfaction, training experiences, and long-term impact. The results validated BLF's effectiveness and informed plans to scale and deepen services, with an emphasis on consistent communication, more frequent training, and farm infrastructure support. Key takeaways: 1. To drive real action, social impact measurement needs to evolve beyond financial returns and basic output metrics. 2. Directly asking beneficiaries about their experiences provides crucial insights for program improvement and evolution. This approach isn't just better reporting—it allows us to design interventions that truly transform lives. Read more: https://lnkd.in/edh353ik

📊 The results are in from our latest study with Unilever! Our interviews with retailers using the Tindahan Club app revealed how digital tools can transform small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in emerging markets. Over 90% of retailers surveyed saw their business grow and earned more money as a result, reporting an increase in customers, a higher volume of products sold, and improved profit margins. 73% of retailers reported reduced time spent worrying about finances. Behind these numbers are stories of entrepreneurs like Carmela, who transformed her store operations from time-consuming wholesale runs to efficient digital ordering. These findings demonstrate how digital tools, when designed with users in mind, can meaningfully reduce operational barriers for small businesses and create lasting economic value in local communities.
