(English at 12PM EAT and French at 2PM EAT.) The learning objectives of this webinar are to understand how to use the DE Africa data platforms, including DE Africa Maps, DE Africa datasets, and the DE Africa Sandbox. Participants will gain valuable insights into providing assessments on crop productivity over time and support food security, report on water extent including monitoring floods, detecting urban growth of major towns, provide assessments on land degradation and obtain assessments on change in vegetation. On Day 1 of the Open Data and Open Knowledge Workshop, we took a deep dive into the role of data and knowledge in the work that GEO does. Our speakers emphasised the value of open data, offering insights into the importance of data accessibility, interoperability and knowledge-sharing. 💯 A few talking points from the day: ➡ The evolution of GEO's approach to open knowledge and the need for integration across various data platforms. ➡ The emerging role of uncrewed aerial vehicles and how they can bridge data gaps, providing new layers of intelligence between satellite and in-situ data. ➡ The significance of incorporating indigenous knowledge, perspectives and community-driven approaches to protect and manage our environment. On Day 2, we're looking at agriculture, food security, disaster resilience, climate, biodiversity and more, as the GEO community seeks to design solutions that make Earth Intelligence accessible to all. And of course, we have to mention the GEO Knowledge Hub, which serves as a curated repository of data, applications, best practices and services that support informed cross-sector decision-making. Today, we welcomed delegates from the Somalia Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) to RCMRD, the AfriGEO Secretariat.
