Enabling Connectivity: AHADI CORPORATION (Konnect Internet) Leads the Charge as The Mbuyu Connector 2024, Bringing Affordable Internet to over 400 Homes In May 2024, Bayobab Kenya launched The Mbuyu Connector campaign, searching for the #ISP with the most compelling proposal to connect an additional 135 households to the #internet and transform #communities. We received many innovative proposals, all showcasing dedication to increasing #connectivity in Kenya. After a thorough review by our partnership committee, Ahadi Wireless (Konnect Internet) emerged as the main partner to gain from the Ksh.1 million #award set out for the most compelling proposal. We are excited to share with you the details of this partnership between Bayobab and Ahadi Wireless to bring affordable internet to previously unconnected households in Kenya. Why this partnership? Bayobab, a next-generation services company, is dedicated to connecting Africa with #digital solutions through an open-access business model. By providing #infrastructure to industry participants, we enable internet service #providers (ISPs) to extend connectivity to end users across the region. In Kenya we have focused on delivering IP Transit and Layer 2 services through our extensive #fibre network. Recently, we launched our national long-distance fibre that runs from Mombasa to Malaba with onward connectivity into Uganda. At Bayobab, we believe that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern #connected life. Our CSR activity dubbed The Mbuyu Connector saw us partnering with Ahadi Wireless, a registered Tier 3 ISP, which shares in the vision of delivering affordable internet to underserved communities at the lowest cost. They emerged as the overall awardee of the Mbuyu Connector 2024 Ksh. 1 million award after a rigorous selection process. Ahadi Wireless’ (Konnect Internet) project focused on expanding affordable #internet access at the lowest cost possible to the populous Bukhungu area of Kibra slums in Nairobi—a previously unconnected community. The commissioning event attracted both excitement and hope from local residents eager for reliable internet. For many residents, the only prior access to the internet was at the DC’s office, forcing long walks just to use Wi-Fi. Now, affordable internet is transforming over 400 households in Bukhungu area, way above the initial campaign target of 135 households, meeting the growing need for digital connectivity—especially for students engaged in Kenya's competency-based curriculum, which emphasizes digital literacy. Watch the commissioning video in the comments to listen to what our MD Sylvia Anampiu and Ahadi's Tao (Tiger) Zhou had to say.
