The small business credit gap in Africa is $330 billion 🤯 In Kenya alone, it's $19.3 billion with only 16% of SMEs having active loans 💰 Africa needs purpose-built solutions to close this gap and that is what we are building at CDF
This week, we continue with our series on SGB financing with a key focus on East Africa. Small and Growing Businesses (SGBs) in Africa face a staggering $330 billion credit gap, limiting their innovation and growth. Across East Africa, the financing shortfall hits $31.7 billion, with Kenya leading at $19.3 billion. The impact is profound as only 16% of Kenyan SGBs currently have active loans, leaving more than 6.2 million businesses without access to vital funding. It is obvious that we need innovative financing solutions if we are to close that funding gap limiting the growth of SGBs. #HabaCapital #SMEs #FinancialInclusion
