The problem in Congo maybe complex than what is being seen currently. Apart from the m23 who broke with the Congo army after the government failed to give them key positions in Goma region there are other more than 50 armed groups in different regions, so even if the Congo government negotiates with M23 what about the other armed groups?

Chinese Nationals Abducted in Niger Amid Hightened ISIS Threat Amid escalating violence and instability in Niger, two Chinese nationals, employees of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), were abducted on February 2, 2025, in a coordinated attack in Agadez. Tragically, two Nigerien security personnel lost their lives during the assault by suspected ISIS SAHEL militants. There video of the incident on our telegram channel @ https://lnkd.in/ed5VDXbW This incident is part of a disturbing trend of abductions and killings linked to the extremist group, highlighting the deteriorating security situation in the region. Recent reports have exposed alleged abuses by security forces, including the targeting of civilians such as herders and goldmine diggers. The current junta in power faces criticism for its failure to address these atrocities, fueling public outrage and discontent. The abduction of foreign nationals, like the Chinese workers, underscores the grave threat posed by ISIS SAHEL in the area. Notably, previous abductions of prominent figures and tourists indicate a pattern aimed at ransom demands or securing the release of detained ISIS members. The situation not only poses a significant human toll but also raises concerns about regional destabilization. The junta's inability to quell these attacks and protect civilians risks further unrest, potentially leading to armed resistance among the local population. Such developments could have far-reaching consequences, especially for neighboring Nigeria, where worries persist about cross-border activities, including mining ventures. The Ripple Effects of the Hamas-Israel Ceasefire on Maritime Security. With the recent Hamas-Israel ceasefire, there’s significant speculation about how this development will influence the broader geopolitical landscape, particularly in regions like the Red Sea and Indian Ocean. A key question arises: how will Yemen-based rebel groups adjust their strategies in the wake of this ceasefire? Recent rebel attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea have highlighted the escalating threats to shipping routes. Even though the ceasefire brings a pause to one conflict, it does not necessarily de-escalate risks in other regions. In fact, the increasing use of drones and modern weaponry by rebel groups poses a growing challenge to vessels transiting these waters. Shipping giant MSC has already announced its continued decision to avoid the Suez Canal and these high-risk areas for the time being. This raises critical concerns about the long-term implications for global shipping. Avoiding these areas means increased transit times and costs, but as traffic eventually returns to these routes, will the demand for armed security teams (AST) surge to mitigate the elevated risks? Additionally, the resurgence of Somali pirate activity, coupled with the heightened threat from Yemen-based groups, could reshape the role of private maritime security companies (PMSC). Will shipping companies need to invest more heavily in security measures to protect their crews and cargo? The maritime security industry must now adapt to a complex landscape where threats come not only from traditional piracy but also from state-backed groups with sophisticated capabilities. The need for proactive risk assessment and well-prepared armed security teams may become non-negotiable if traffic through these areas increases. The maritime domain is ever-changing, and these developments demand vigilance, adaptability, and collaboration between all stakeholders in the shipping and security industries. What are your thoughts on how these geopolitical shifts will affect maritime security and the role of PMSCs in the coming months? hashtag #MaritimeSecurity hashtag #ShippingIndustry hashtag #GlobalTrade hashtag #RedSea hashtag #IndianOcean hashtag #CeasefireImpact hashtag #SupplyChain hashtag #MaritimeOperations hashtag #PiracyPrevention hashtag #SecurityAtSea hashtag #YemenConflict hashtag #SuezCanal hashtag #ShippingSafety hashtag #PMSC hashtag #ArmedSecurity hashtag #MaritimeRiskManagement hashtag #TradeRoutes
