The United Nations unveils 2025 International Year of Cooperatives LOGO! "We call to cooperators worldwide to share their pride for what cooperatives are doing to build a better world, and to take advantage of the International Year of Cooperatives in 2025. The release of the logo is another milestone for our journey to the official launch at our Global Cooperative Conference in New Delhi," says Jeroen Douglas, Director General of the International Cooperative Alliance. The UN Secretary-General has published a report on the Social and Solidarity Economy’s (#SSE) contributions to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The report was submitted to the UN Economic and Financial Commission on 15 October and discussed during a hybrid event organised by the UN Inter-Agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE). “The report introduced yesterday concretely identifies the contribution of the social and solidarity economy to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as concrete action areas which are critical blocking further potential of the Social Solidarity Economy in its three dimensions, social, economic, and environmental,” said Chantal Line Carpentier, Co-Chair of the UNTFSSE and Head of Trade, Environment, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Branch at UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD). During the session moderated by Víctor Meseguer Sánchez, International Consultant on SSE at UNCTAD/UNTFSSE, explored the main developments since the adoption of the UN resolution on the SSE as well as the way forward for the SSE as a driver of sustainable development. Iñigo Albizuri Landazabal CICOPA President and Ana Aguirre ICA Youth Committee chair said #cooperatives should be partners for development policies + supported via legislation + preferential tax regimes for #SSE actors, cooperative education and networking events The importance of youth inclusion in the implementation and decision making processes and on the #IYC2025 was also highlighted. #WeAreCoops
