This Business Guide on Anti-corruption and Economic Crimes in Kenya is an invaluable resource for businesses seeking to navigate the complex regulatory landscape while upholding integrity and compliance. It simplifies the legal framework governing anti-corruption and economic crimes in Kenya and provides a powerful tool for judicial officers and businesses in combating the vice of corruption. We extend our sincere appreciation to Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH for their invaluable support in making this resource possible. - KAM Ag. Today, the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), in partnership with the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association, launched the Business Guidebook on Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Law in Kenya. This guidebook aims to support businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, in understanding and adhering to Kenya’s anti-corruption and economic crimes regulations, such as the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act and the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act. Hon. Lady Justice CJ Martha Koome, speaking at the launch, highlighted, “This guidebook is a resource for business owners, helping them avoid legal pitfalls and uphold accountability and transparency in their operations.” She emphasized that combating corruption is a shared responsibility that must extend beyond government, engaging all sectors to foster ethical business practices and build public trust. As KAM, we have worked hand-in-hand with the Executive and the Judiciary to address the gaps in the formulation and prosecution of offences under anti-corruption and economic crimes. We are confident that this Guide will be another milestone in making the country less prone to corruption, thereby increasing the ease of doing business. #KAMAdvocacy Tobias Alando, MML, Bsc.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) for Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) North Rift Region took place yesterday in Eldoret, bringing together industry leaders to discuss regional challenges, achievements and strategic opportunities. North Rift Region Chairperson William Ong’are reported significant member recruitment and retention within the region this year. He noted increased engagements with both county and national government agencies, resulting in quicker resolution of member issues, especially around infrastructure development, fees and levies, and firm-level intervention. Ong’are encouraged members to stay actively involved in KAM sector advocacy efforts, which strengthen collective influence on critical policies impacting local industries. In his remarks, KAM Ag. CEO Tobias Alando, MML, Bsc. elaborated on the Association's ongoing initiatives and proposals to the government aimed at addressing some of the industry's most pressing concerns. He highlighted KAM’s efforts in tackling cost of power, VAT refunds, advocating for a predictable policy environment for business, and available opportunities for members within the Affordable Housing Program. During the meeting, members raised several challenges impacting their operations, including: ☑️High electricity costs and frequent blackouts; ☑️County fees and levies and other inter-county business challenges ☑️Poor road infrastructure, disrupting the efficient transport of goods. #KAMRegions

Today, we hosted the Women in Manufacturing (WIM) National Conference in Nairobi, reflecting on our journey across various counties. This year, WIM, in partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, led county-based forums focused on advancing key goals, such as celebrating the accomplishments of women and recognizing those championing the women economic empowerment agenda. Speaking at the conference, KAM WIM Vice Chairperson, Ms Susan Maingi, noted that since its inception in 2017, WIM has grown into an agenda within KAM, supported by long-lasting partnerships and a diverse, supportive community of stakeholders. "Looking to the future of WIM, we aim to expand our reach, bring more people into the conversation, open doors for entrepreneurs to grow, enhance capacity-building, and leverage technology and innovations to drive growth." KAM Ag. CEO Tobias Alando, MML, Bsc. remarked that KAM remains committed to supporting industrial growth in Kenya, with a strong focus on empowering women in manufacturing. "The more we promote women’s engagement in this sector, the more value we create. Women bring a keen attention to detail, and everything they do is done with excellence. We encourage women to continue participating in the Women in Manufacturing (WIM) Caucus, as it provides a platform for engagement, learning, and mutual support." Dr. Christoph Zipfel, Programme Director for Sustainable Economic Development at GIZ, noted, "Our journey in this project has driven inclusivity, empowerment, and equity within the manufacturing sector. Today, we celebrate that impact. A cornerstone of this effort has been the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) e-learning program in partnership with AHK Ecuador, which has equipped employees and employers with the tools to address GBV, fostering safer and more inclusive workplaces." Dr. Zipfel added, "We are deeply grateful to all our partners, especially the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH), KAM, and GIZ, for their invaluable support. We remain committed to building a manufacturing sector that champions diversity, equity, and inclusion, knowing that when women rise, everyone benefits." Ms. Florence Chemutai, Deputy Director at the State Department for Gender and Affirmative Action, remarked, "The Government of Kenya, through the State Department for Gender, has developed a draft policy on Women’s Economic Empowerment, aiming to promote inclusive and sustainable development. This policy supports training, knowledge exchange programs, a favorable microeconomic environment, and increased women’s participation in manufacturing." On the sidelines of the conference, various women manufacturers showcased their “Made in Kenya” brands, displaying the talent and innovation driving our industry forward. #WIMNationalConference #PartnersInTransformation
