The Zambia High Commission-Kenya delegation, led by Ms. Natalie Mulenga (First Secretary Economic and Trade) and Ms. kutemba Fwoloshi (Second Secretary Tourism), recently paid a courtesy call to KATA CEO Mr. Nicanor Sabula at our offices. At the heart of our discussions was the implementation of two key partnerships: 1. The MoU between Travel Agents Association of Zambia (TAAZ) and Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) 2. A collaborative framework with the Travel Agents Association of Zambia (TAAZ). This strategic meeting marks a significant milestone in strengthening tourism ties between #Kenya and #Zambia. Through knowledge sharing and expertise exchange, we're building a stronger regional tourism network that benefits both our nations. We look forward to fostering this partnership and creating new opportunities for our members! #AfricanTourism #RegionalTourism #KATA #TravelIndustry #KenyaZambiaPartnership

To champion and sustain growth of Travel Industry in Kenya
About us
The Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) is a membership based organization that has represented the interests of Kenyan travel agents since 1979 when its forerunner, the East African Society of Travel Agents, which had been in existence for 22 years was disbanded due to the collapse of the East African Community. KATA works to enhance and improve the Travel Industry business climate in Kenya by promoting the services of her members to the general public, protecting their rights and assisting them to optimize their businesses. Over 200 IATA & NON - IATA Travel Agencies and 4 IATA approved Training colleges are active members. All these members are bound by KATA’s constitution and Code of ethical & professional Standards. While KATA promotes free trade without violating rules and regulations, we have entrenched a Constitution and Code of ethical & professional Standards that self-regulates thus providing the consumer with protection and peace of mind. The Association is a member of the Universal Federation of Travel Agents' Association (UFTAA) and the Federation of Eastern and Southern African Travel Agents (FESATA) and works closely with the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Tourism and related Government Parastatals. KATA also plays an important role in the private sector bodies such as the Kenya Tourism Federation (KTF) and The Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA). Our Vision To be the leading authority on travel trade in Kenya Our Mission To champion and sustain growth of travel industry in Kenya Code of conduct To create and maintain the highest possible standard of integrity amongst Members of KATA in their dealings with Consumers, their principals and each other.

Great catching up with my brother Fadi Zuraikat, the Regional Manager of Qatar Airways to discuss opportunities for collaboration as we end the year into 2025. Qatar Airways and the Kenya Association of Travel Agents have historic ties that have allowed us to support our members through their air ticketing journey.

#ThrowbackThursday: KATA's Rollercoaster Ride Through Travel History! In 2003, we gathered at Safari Park Hotel and fought passionately for that 9% airline commission. The energy was electric! Fast forward to 2008: BAM! Zero commissions hit us hard. But we didn’t back down. We rallied, innovated, and led the charge on service fees, proving that Kenyan travel agents are not just ticket bookers—we're travel wizards. To our OGs who weathered the storm, you’re the MVPs! And to the newcomers, welcome to a family of fighters. From commission battles to digital revolutions, we’re steering the ship and making waves! Our secret? It’s YOU—your passion and drive. Drop a ❤️ if you’re proud to be part of the KATA family and share your stories. Let’s celebrate our journey and get excited for the future! KATA is strong, today and always!
