US Ambassador Highlights Kenya's Electric Mobility Progress. US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman visited MOGO Kenya to reaffirm support for Kenya's transition to electric mobility. During her tour of Mogo's electric vehicle (EV) showroom in Nairobi, she praised the country's efforts in decarbonizing its transport sector. Mogo, one of three e-mobility companies receiving $30 million in financing from the US International Development Finance Corporation, has invested Sh1.3 billion to expand its EV financing portfolio. The company focuses on e-bikes and three-wheelers, making various EV brands accessible to Kenyans. Ambassador Whitman emphasized that investing in electric vehicles creates jobs and reduces reliance on fossil fuels. Electric boda boda operators can earn at least Sh300 more daily due to savings on fuel and maintenance, aided by Mogo's lower interest rates. E-mobility aligns with Kenya's National Climate Change Action Plan, aiming for at least five percent of registered vehicles to be electric by 2025.
