It’s A FACT that more and more children are receivers, participants, and actors in the online environment, online risks are increasing with the rise in access to the internet in Africa. It’s A FACT is an 18-month participatory action Child-led research that aims to understand digital literacy competence among African children between 9-17 years in Malawi, Kenya, and Mali. To understand and identify what digital competencies they need, based on their lived experience, culture, and context to navigate the digital world safely and effectively. This study is keen to get the voices of children in conflict, rural, and marginalized parts of Africa. The study will inform The Africa Child Online Safety Model Law.
