  • "Keep learning, keep doing." This was the mantra embraced by the 28 teachers from Grades 1, 2, and 3 across 20 community schools partnered with KRC. The focus was to deepen their understanding of their work and enhance their methods. By doing so, they aim to build greater confidence and competence.#Teachersupskilling. These teachers have successfully completed a three-day training on the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and are eager to return to school with newfound enthusiasm, ready to apply the knowledge and skills they've gained to improve teaching and learning experiences.#CBC KRC recognizes that skilled teachers are crucial for delivering quality education and achieving the goals of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4). SDG4 seeks to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”#SGD4.#Educationforall

  • Thanks for sharing It is true that play is crucial for children's growth and development. In Kenya's informal settlements, we need to reexamine the availability of playgrounds or play spaces for children. Many of our schools and households lack adequate play areas. If it is too late to make significant changes, we should explore ways to share existing public and communal play fields. Nonetheless, play opportunities will still be limited.

  • Education is Sweet: The Impact of Book Club Sessions for Community Children at Kangemi Resource centre library #educationforall. #library. #childreneducation Education is often compared to the process of nurturing a seed into a flourishing plant, and like any garden, it requires the right conditions to thrive. One innovative and heartwarming approach to creating these conditions is through book club sessions for community children. These gatherings not only foster a love for reading but also provide numerous educational benefits, turning learning into a sweet and enjoyable journey.Wangari GraceShantelle Brumfield

  • World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2024  #PeriodFriendlyWorld.SanitaryHeavenFoundationAs we celebrate World Menstrual Day, the theme "#PeriodFriendlyWorld" reminds us of the importance of ensuring that vulnerable schoolgirls have access to menstrual hygiene products (pads) to keep them in school and help them take pride in being female. The Kangemi Resource Centre, in partnership with Sanitary Heaven, supports 300 schoolgirls from Kangemi Community School each month by providing them with packs of pads.#thepadsproject #endperiodpoverty Maria Carmen Punzi Menstrual Hygiene for a Brighter Future": Providing menstrual hygiene products helps girls to stay healthy, attend school, and reach their full potential Ms. Mercy M.

  •  The RETURN TO SCHOOL AFTER FLOODS DISASTER IN KENYA Mtware Laban#educationforall The return to school after floods disaster in Kenya presents a complex set of challenges and considerations for the education sector. Firstly, the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and staff must be prioritized. Flood-affected areas may still pose risks of contamination, structural damage to school buildings, or other hazards that need to be addressed before reopening.#climateeffects. #climatechange. #disasterresponse Infrastructure repair and rehabilitation efforts are crucial to ensure that school facilities are safe and conducive to learning. This may involve repairing damaged buildings, clearing debris, and restoring utilities such as water and electricity. Additionally, schools may need to implement measures to mitigate future flood risks, such as constructing barriers or relocating to safer locations if necessary.#Rehabilitiation The return to school also requires addressing the psychosocial needs of students and staff who may have experienced trauma or displacement due to the flood disaster. Providing counseling services, trauma-informed support, and creating a supportive learning environment are essential for helping individuals cope with the emotional impact of the disaster and promoting their overall well-being.#psychosocialsupport Furthermore, the interruption caused by the flood disaster may have resulted in learning loss for students. Efforts should be made to assess and address these gaps in learning through targeted interventions, remedial classes, and additional academic support to ensure that students can catch up on missed lessons and continue their education effectively.#educationequity Community engagement and collaboration with local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders are critical in the recovery process. By working together, it is possible to mobilize resources, coordinate response efforts, and implement sustainable solutions that promote resilience and enable schools to reopen safely and efficiently in the aftermath of a flood disaster.Leonard N.Shantelle S.LadyBug Brumfield - The Nonprofit Brand Doctor

  • Kenyan Flood Effects on Education: True Stories of Climate Change's Effects #climatechange .#climate effects #disastermanagement The impact of floods on education in Kenya is palpable, with uncertainty yet another report indicates that school will probably not resume next week The ongoing rains are proving disastrous, causing significant disruption to the educational system. We earnestly hope for a cessation of these rains soon, reminiscent of the education challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. #educationforall Kenya is experiencing firsthand the importance of disaster preparedness, as the effects of climate change are no longer merely scientific theory but tangible realities. As students return to school, the topic of climate change effects will not be abstract concepts but rather real-life narratives that they can share with one another.Leonard N.
