As we dive deeper into the 2024 Policy Hackathon, it's clear that the future of Africa hinges on how effectively we equip our youth with the skills demanded by the 21st century. At PLP, we understand that youth skilling isn't just about education, it's about creating a sustainable ecosystem where young Africans are empowered to innovate, lead, and drive change across the continent. The theme "Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century" challenges us to rethink how we approach education and employability. Are we preparing our youth to compete globally, or are we still catching up? Our model at PLP focuses on more than just technical skills; we’re fostering a mindset of continuous learning, adaptability, and entrepreneurial thinking qualities essential for navigating the complexities of today's and tomorrow’s job markets. Being part of this Hackathon underscores our belief that the path to a prosperous Africa is paved with innovative solutions that scale. It’s about harnessing the collective potential of our youth, building partnerships that matter, and ensuring that every young African has the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the global economy. Let's redefine what it means to be employable in Africa and ensure that our youth are not just participants in the future but leaders shaping it. Mumbi N. At PLP, we are driven by a bold vision to equip Africa's youth with the digital skills they need to lead the continent into the future. This took center stage yesterday during our Executive Director, Mumbi N. participation in the vital conversation "Bringing the Pact Home" Civil Society Consultation on the Summit of the Future, hosted by United Nations Information Service Nairobi at the United Nations Nairobi In a world facing unprecedented challenges, from climate change to economic disparities, Mumbi highlighted digital skilling as a crucial catalyst for sustainable growth, especially in Africa. She emphasized that digital transformation is key to unlocking Africa’s potential, bridging educational gaps, and accelerating innovation in sectors such as green technology, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence. As we champion initiatives like #1MillionDevs4Africa and #PowHER women in tech, we are committed to creating pathways for youth to lead this digital revolution. Our goal is to transform lives, build resilient economies, and ensure that no one is left behind in the journey toward a more connected and equitable future. #1MillionDevs4Africa

Empowering Africa’s Future Tech Leaders! As industries embrace digitalization, the demand for tech talent is rapidly increasing, and PLP is leading the charge by providing accessible, industry-aligned training that bridges the gap between education and employment. At the International Youth Day 2024 thematic session, hosted by ILO Horn of Africa, UN Kenya, and UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme), our Executive Director, Mumbi N. had the pleasure of reconnecting with PLP alumna and current UN Habitat intern, Maryam Wangeshi Maryam’s journey exemplifies the transformative impact of our Software Development Scholarship program. She shared how the technical skills, mentorship, and collaborative experiences at PLP not only opened doors for her at UN Habitat but also empowered her to contribute meaningfully to global urban development projects. Her story underscores the critical role digital skills play in equipping young Africans to succeed in today’s workforce and drive positive change across industries. As Maryam continues to shape the future of tech and urban development, we are proud to be part of her story alongside many more inspiring PLP alumnae across Africa. #1MillionDevs4Africa #PLPImpact
