She emphasized that digital transformation is key to unlocking Africa’s potential, bridging educational gaps, and accelerating innovation in sectors such as green technology, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence. Empowering Africa’s Future Tech Leaders! As industries embrace digitalization, the demand for tech talent is rapidly increasing, and PLP is leading the charge by providing accessible, industry-aligned training that bridges the gap between education and employment. At the International Youth Day 2024 thematic session, hosted by ILO Horn of Africa, UN Kenya, and UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme), our Executive Director, Mumbi N. had the pleasure of reconnecting with PLP alumna and current UN Habitat intern, Maryam Wangeshi Maryam’s journey exemplifies the transformative impact of our Software Development Scholarship program. She shared how the technical skills, mentorship, and collaborative experiences at PLP not only opened doors for her at UN Habitat but also empowered her to contribute meaningfully to global urban development projects. Her story underscores the critical role digital skills play in equipping young Africans to succeed in today’s workforce and drive positive change across industries.
