Corporate Immigration update — Santa Fe Relocations is pleased to inform you of significant updates introduced by TalentCorp and MYXpats that will take effect on 01 September 2024. These updates include new features to streamline the expatriate Employment Pass (EP), Dependant Pass (DP), and Professional Visit Pass (PVP) application processes, as well as a revised service fee structure. These changes are designed to enhance the efficiency and ease of managing expatriate-related matters in Malaysia. Key points include: (1) Launch of Xpats Gateway Platform: A single-window platform launched on 15 June 2023, integrating processes across 26 Approving and Regulatory Agencies. This platform simplifies and accelerates the process of obtaining supporting letters for expatriate applications, enhancing Malaysia's appeal as a business-friendly destination. (2) Reduced Processing Time: Application processing times for EP and PVP applications have been reduced significantly for Tier 1, Tier 2, and Critical Sector companies, ensuring faster approvals and quicker deployment of expatriates. (3) Introduction of New Online Sub-Product Services: The ESD Online system now offers a range of online services, including Transfer of Endorsement, Amendment of Approved Applications, and Cancellation of Passes. These services eliminate the need for manual submissions, making the application process more efficient and user-friendly. (4) Expansion of Expatriate Satellite Centres: A new Expatriate Satellite Centre (ESC) at KLIA Terminal 2, operational 24/7, has been launched. This expansion provides greater convenience for expatriates, allowing for pass endorsements at both KLIA Terminals 1 and 2, ultimately reducing costs and time for employers. (5) Revised Service Fee Structure: A new fee structure for EP, DP, and PVP applications will be implemented from 01 September 2024. The fees have been adjusted to reflect the improved services and remain competitive on an international scale. Corporate Immigration update — The Immigration Department of Malaysia has introduced new services for the endorsement of Employment Passes, Dependent Passes, and Long-Term Social Visit Passes (LT-SVP) at the ESD Satellite Centre (ESC) in both KLIA1 and KLIA2. This was intended to expedite the endorsement process and provide immediate issuance of pass stickers upon arrival at the airport. However, due to recent technical issues and maintenance, this service is currently unavailable. As a result, endorsement processes at both KLIA terminals are on hold until further notice. Key points inlcude: (1) Service Disruption: The new endorsement services at KLIA1 and KLIA2 have been temporarily suspended due to technical issues. This means expatriates cannot get their pass stickers immediately upon arrival at the airport. (2)Current Procedure: During this period, expatriates will need to use their entry stamp for endorsement. The manual insertion of pass stickers will be required after entry into Malaysia. (3)Impact on Endorsement Timeline: The delay caused by the service disruption will extend the endorsement process. Typically, endorsement after entry using the entry stamp is expected to take 5-7 working days. (4)Visa Requirements: Expatriates requiring a visa prior to entry should ensure they have obtained their Single-Entry Visa or eVisa before arriving in Malaysia. This requirement remains unchanged despite the service disruption. (5) Action Steps for Clients: Clients are advised to inform their Santa Fe immigration consultant upon arrival. Our team will guide them through the next steps to complete the endorsement process and manage any additional delays. Corporate Immigration update — The 30% ruling subject to change, the gradual retrenchment of the 30% ruling, implemented per 1 January 2024, will likely be amended again, according to sources within the Dutch government, working on the budget for next year. Key points to consider include: (1) The 30 % ruling retrenchment effective per January 2024 repels companies from doing business in The Netherlands (2) Working in The Netherlands with a retrenched 30% ruling is not attractive for highly skilled migrants, fewer talented employees will be hired (3) The SEO, an economic research bureau, did an independent review and concluded the initial 30% ruling was effective and efficient, and positively contributed to the Dutch knowledge economy. (4) Instead of the gradual reduction of the 30% ruling, the 30% figure will be cut to 27%.
