Showing up for yourself is the first step. Over the weekend, we hosted a blockchain hackathon exclusively for women, and we were truly impressed by the range of projects presented. The participants were eager and determined to deepen their understanding of blockchain technology and explore how it can be leveraged to address social issues and enhance entrepreneurship. A key highlight from the event was the panel discussion, which emphasized the importance of putting yourself out there. "Putting yourself out there is the surest way to tap into opportunities." For the hackathon the judges emphasizeed on he need to build solutions with a global community in mind, as this approach not only refines the solution but also elevates its quality to international standards. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our partners who contributed to making the hackathon a success. Asanteni sana. #empoweredwomenempowerwomen ICP Hub Kenya,Yvonne Kagondu,

Witnessing the Tech Brunch come to fruition on the 27th was truly fulfilling. Organized by SisterSpeaks Global & Heels4Pads Foundation and Power Learn Project in collaboration with SCA Nairobi , and various women-led tech communities, this event gathered industry experts to empower women in the tech field and support one another. Catherine Muraga , our keynote speaker, highlighted an essential lesson: prioritize depth before breadth. Achieving deep expertise in your career ensures unparalleled competency, which establishes credibility. Breadth, or broadening your skills, will come as you specialize and excel in your chosen field. Depth takes time and dedication. Women have abundant opportunities and support to advance their careers. It’s important to take advantage of these opportunities and approach them with the confidence described by Mumbi N. in her 2024 motto: "carry the audacity of mediocre men." The speed mentorship sessions were a standout for me, where tech leaders shared invaluable insights. Joylynn Kirui , in particular, shared how she accidentally found herself in cybersecurity. While she was a software developer, her project was hacked, and through "YouTube University," she learned about cyber attacks and how to secure her sites. This transition teaches us that sometimes, setbacks can lead to new opportunities and career paths. Embracing unexpected challenges can open doors to areas we might not have considered before. Spending Saturday with such empowered women, each supporting and inspiring the other, was incredible. I eagerly look forward to lighting more candles and keeping the flame of progress burning bright.

Brunch for the girlies in tech! ✨ Seeing Tech Brunch come to life was indeed fulfilling. On the 27th, Power Learn Project, SisterSpeaks Global & Heels4Pads Foundation, SCA Nairobi and women-led tech communities embarked on organizing the brunch bringing industry experts together to empower more women in the tech space and to light a candle for a sister.   One of the standout takeaways I took was from Catherine Muraga, the keynote speaker. She emphasized on the need to look for depth before you breathe. Depth in your career and skill will ensure you have undisputed competency which goes a long way in proving your credibility. Breath comes as you specialize and get really good at your chosen path. Depth needs time. As women, we have a lot of opportunities and support that we should leverage to build our careers. It is important to put ourselves out there and walk with “ the audacity of mediocre men.” Mumbi N.’s 2024 moto. The highlight of the event for me was the speed mentorship sessions where leading experts in tech shared their insights. Margaret Ngugi lit my candle through her story of transitioning from aviation into Tech and securing a product management role at Google. “It takes determination and focus to work towards a set goal, "atafutaye hachoki, akichoka, keshapata”.  Her story was inspiring. It was truly an incredible Saturday spent with empowered women, each lighting a candle for another to keep the fires burning. Looking forward to lighting more candles. #EmpoweredWomenEmpowerWomen. Thank you Monicah W. Muhoya, Women in Tech Africa,SisterSpeaks Global & Heels4Pads Foundation, Annabelle Wafula, Power Learn Project.

I had the opportunity to attend the Women in Tech Brunch Women Tech Brunch hosted by SisterSpeaks Global & Heels4Pads Foundation, Power Learn Project, SCA Nairobi and African Women In Tech - AWIT-. The speed mentorship session facilitated meaningful interactions with experienced tech experts. I gained valuable insights from the panelists Dr. Elizabeth Wamicha, PhD, Faith Nkatha Gitonga ✔, Anastasiah M., Joylynn Kirui, Melisa Michuki and Margaret Ngugi. My major takeaway is self-advocacy: Have appreciation and confidence in what you do to be able to advocate for yourself effectively. Looking forward more events like this to network and connect with other amazing women in tech.
