About us

Wema Community Center Organization (WCCO) is a nonprofit established in 2013, registered under the Ministry of East Africa Community, Labour, and Social Protection. Founded by intellectuals to address challenges faced by women and children, WCCO supports overcoming poverty and uplifts the less fortunate and vulnerable in the community by emphasizes the role of technology in driving social change and sustainable development. WCCO is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for women and youth in underprivileged areas by providing basic education, youth empowerment, skills training for income generating, environmental conversation and raising awareness on gender-based violence (GBV) and other human rights issues to socially and economically empower the community. Wema employs an integrated gender and rights-based approach in its program, connecting to the real lives of girls and women in the community while recognizing them as rights bearers. WCCO is committed to addressing the urgent challenges posed by climate change. By integrating climate resilience into its programs, WCCO promotes sustainable practices that help communities adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change. This includes advocating for the use of innovative technologies and smart solutions to build resilience against climate-related risks. By combining education, rights advocacy, and innovative climate solutions, WCCO empowers communities for a sustainable and resilient future.
