On 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝟐𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒, the second series of the 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐀𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 was concluded. The training series aimed to enhance the qualifications of local consultants, enabling them to provide professional pre-audit consultancy services and potentially become accredited Lead Auditors. Such consultancy services are crucial for supporting growth and cross-border exports of Cambodian SMEs. The training series had a focus on 𝐈𝐒𝐎 𝟗𝟎𝟎𝟏:𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟓 (𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦), 𝐈𝐒𝐎 𝟐𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟎:𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟖 (𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲), 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐒𝐎 𝟒𝟓𝟎𝟎𝟏:𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟖 (𝐎𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲), in accordance with ISO 19011 auditing guidelines. More than 10 IRCA-certified local consultants, who underwent similar trainings in 2021 can now conduct pre-audits. On March 25th, 2024, ARISE Plus Cambodia joined the Ministry of Commerce (#MoC) hosting an engaging 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐨𝐧 “𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲. 💼🌍 The policy is being developed with the aim to support Cambodia's digital agenda by enhancing the digital trade ecosystem. It focuses on important areas like digital infrastructure, laws and regulations, standards, skill development, innovation promotion, inclusivity, and coordination among institutions. In this initial phase of the policy formulation process, the workshop was conducted to carry out a thorough and participatory assessment of the current state, strengths, weaknesses, and potential of digital trade in Cambodia. The session took the form of a focus group discussion and drew participation from around 139 attendees representing various sectors, including the public sector, development partners, private enterprises, business associations, and chambers of commerce. ARISE Plus Cambodia has always been delighted to collaborate with the MoC and relevant line ministries to enhance the country’s digital trade ecosystem. This included assisting in the preparation of the negotiation for the #ASEAN Digital Economic Framework Agreement (#DEFA). 🌟💼 Today marked another successful conclusion of a comprehensive 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (#DEFA) tailored for Cambodian negotiators, with the participation of representatives from line ministries involved in the DEFA negotiation. The session spanned from March 20-22, 2024. This three-day training, the third edition of its series, was delivered under the close collaboration of the Ministry of Commerce (#MOC) and the ARISE Plus Cambodia project, with the financial support from the European Union (#EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (#BMZ). Its objective was to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge to effectively engage in DEFA negotiations. Given that the DEFA negotiations among #ASEAN Member States are currently underway, this training was specifically designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the agreement's provisions, principles, and potential implications for Cambodia's digital economy, and to be better positioned to represent Cambodia’s interests effectively as well as for the region. With the theme "𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲 & 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿: 𝗔𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀", we had the privilege of hosting industry experts, successful businesswomen, and over 400 participants who joined us in exploring important topics like mainstreaming gender equality in e-commerce and sharing empowering success stories. During the opening ceremony, the event was graced with the presence of H.E. 𝗧𝗘𝗞𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗛 𝗞𝗮𝗺𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴, the MoC Secretary of State. H.E. emphasized the significance of preserving existing works and embracing the motto "preserve the old, enrich the new." She encouraged enhancing knowledge, skills, and competencies through training, staying updated with digitalization, and actively participating in business activities. Additionally, she urged entrepreneurs to leverage the benefits of bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements. The event was part of a series of joint activities between the SROCC and ARISE Plus Cambodia. Just like earlier topical SME Export Talks, it aimed to provide Cambodian SMEs with improved access to validated trade information in a specific half-day format. Generally, the SME-Export Talk format consists of topical presentations by subject matter specialists, including at least one SME, a moderated panel discussion and final Q&A session involving all participants. The knowledge and experiences that were shared aimed at raising awareness among SMEs on the importance of complying with international quality standards for entering any cross-border markets. Moreover, participants had the opportunity to bring up specific issues, raise concerns and initiate post-event networking with representatives of public and private service providers, such as accredited international auditing companies. In all, the event was attended by approx. 80 participants, both, in person and virtually and turned out to be well received.
