About us
អង្គការ ភីផលអិននិត (People in Need in Khmer) People in Need has been providing relief and development assistance in Cambodia since 2008. Through our different and strategic programmes, (1) Disaster Management & Urban Resilience, (2) Green Energy, and (3) Sustainable Livelihoods, we aim to address the challenges both urban and rural face. We aim to ensure the delivery of quality support and output results with our respective partners from government ministries and respectable donors towards achieving the sustainable development goals. Our projects have provided humanitarian and development assistance through innovation and technology across all provinces in Cambodia; strengthen the livelihoods of both rural and urban communities from the COVID-19 pandemic and resilience to natural disasters through the development of the Early Warning System used nationwide (including direction towards cross-border cooperation), enable employment opportunities for persons living with disability, address the challenges of climate change, and promote alternative livelihoods through strengthening market value chains.

People in Need is pleased to announce the official signing of the 'Flood Resilience in the Lower Mekong' project. The three-year project is a collaborative effort between the Lao PDR government, Switzerland, People in Need, and community members to enhance early warning systems and strengthen local resilience in Lao PDR through the use of cost-effective disaster risk reduction technologies. This exciting development signifies a further expansion of PIN’s Early Warning System program, originally launched in Cambodia in 2013. The project is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Lao PDR.

The National Committee for Disaster Management and PIN organized a training session on 'Capacity Building for Commune Disaster Management Committees (CCDM) and Village Disaster Management Groups (VDMG)' in Stung Treng Province from August 27th to 30th 2024. This training aimed to strengthen the skills of the CCDM and VDMG in Disaster Risk Management, Water Resources Management, and Community Awareness. This activity is funded by UNDP Cambodia and ROK, and implemented by PIN and NCDM.

The study tour provided students and teachers with hands-on experience by visiting leading businesses and entrepreneurs in the aquaculture sector, focusing on animal production and processing. This activity is conducted in collaboration with the Vocational Orientation Department of MoEYS Cambodia, with financial support from Czech Development Agency - CzechAid and the Czech Embassy Phnom Penh.

As part of the 'Streamlining Aquaculture in Cambodia's Vocational Education' project, we're excited to roll out another outreach campaign at Preah Bat Samdach Preah Borom Neat Norodom Sihamoni General and Technical High School in the Kompong Chhang Province. Teachers are leading the charge, visiting various schools across the region to inspire and educate students about the importance of technical education. This campaign is helping students discover the immense value of technical skills and how they can shape their futures. National Committee for Disaster Management, in collaboration with PIN, is raising awareness about the EWS1294 system in flood-prone areas. We shared important details on how the system works and its benefits, helping community members understand its role in real-time flood and hazard alerts. Together, we’re building a more prepared and resilient community! This activity is supported by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation HEKS/EPER Cambodia, and Caritas Suisse to further promote the system in vulnerable areas of Cambodia.

At Kampong Chheuteal Demonstration General and Technical High School, our first Training Workshop on 'Soft Skills and Production Basics for Technical Students'. This workshop focused on the fundamental workplace skills necessary to respond to the evolving demands of globalisation and the labour market. We were honoured to have a representative from CP Cambodia share valuable insights on soft skills and self-preparation for employment and entrepreneurship. We organise these activities in collaboration with the Vocational Orientation Department of MoEYS Cambodia, with financial support from Czech Development Agency - CzechAid and the Czech Embassy Phnom Penh. #Aquaculture #softskilltraining
