Changing lives the arts: We empower youth with access to quality arts training and education

About us

Phare Ponleu Selpak, or “The Brightness of the Arts,” is a non-profit NGO located in Battambang, Cambodia that helps children and young adults improve their lives through artistic training, educational programs, and social support. Vision Phare Ponleu Selpak believes passionately in the power of the arts as a tool for human development and social change. Values Accessibility, Collaboration, Creativity, Professionalism Artistic Training; Performing Arts and Visual and Applied Arts: Founded in 1994, the Visual and Applied Arts School believes in allowing children to develop their own creativity and define their personality through artistic exploration. The professional program, for advanced students ages 17 and up, allows dedicated young adults to choose from fine art, graphic design, or animation, and develop the skills and portfolio they need to launch careers in these industries. Founded in 1996, the Performing Arts School comprises four disciplines: music, theatre, dance, and circus. The performing arts school allows students to study traditional Cambodian arts, modern arts, and the fusion of the two. The professional program lets the oldest students develop the skills necessary to launch careers in Cambodia's developing performing arts scene. Education Phare's educational programs comprise a community kindergarten for 225 students, a child development center, and a community library. Social Support The backbone of Phare, social support provides a holistic approach to development and education, with the Child Protection Program, providing school supplies, first aid, counseling, and monitoring; and Child Sponsorship Program, uniting generous donors in foreign countries with children in need.
