About
Why Did You Blender Explode is a redraw trend inspired by the popular Tumblr parody account CAD-Comic, which posts edited versions of Ctrl+Alt+Del comics. After the account posted a parody in which Lucas makes Ethan's blender explode and then commands him to teleport to the woods, parodies of the post began making the rounds online after 2022.
Origin
The original Ctrl+Alt+Del webcomic[1] was posted on November 24th, 2007, titled, "Will It Blend." On December 27th, 2022, Tumblr[2] user @CAD-Comic posted an alternate version of the original comic, titled, "Blender Comic." The post gathered over 50,000 notes in two years (seen below, right).
The meme was reposted to social media sites besides Tumblr in the year 2023, including a post on Reddit's /r/bonehurtingjuice[3] that gathered over 7,000 upvotes and a May 10th, 2024, post on @MatttGFX's X[4] account that gathered over 43,000 likes in a month.
Spread
On February 25th, 2023, X[5] user @haylsho posted a Pikim version of the meme, gathering over 1,000 likes in a year (seen below, left). On May 21st, Tumblr[6] user @morganmackerel posted a Hylics parody of the meme (seen below, right).
An October 3rd, 2023, post by Tumblr[7][8] user @siliconcat and a November 6th post by user @loathemetc both parodied the meme as well, gathering over 1,000 likes, respectively, in nine months (seen below).
