In recent years, relations between China and the US have deteriorated precipitously. Wedges have been driven into their relationship by many issues, and as a consequence, nearly every bilateral issue has become securitised. Both countries increasingly cast the other as an adversary, as reflected in their national security documents, statements, and media. How does this impact Asia-Pacific stability? What end-states do regional actors envision? On October 29, 10am KST, Dr. Manpreet Sethi and Joel Petersson Ivre, co-authors of the recent APLN report “Regional End States and Beyond,” will unpack the findings on Asia-Pacific perspectives regarding the long-term roles they wish China and the US would play in the region. They will be joined by: 🔹 Dr. Zack Cooper, Senior Fellow at American Enterprise Institute 🔹 Melissa Conley Tyler, Executive Director of Asia-Pacific Development, Diplomacy & Defence Dialogue 🔹 Professor YU Tiejun from Peking University Our discussion will be moderated by APLN Policy Fellow Tanvi Kulkarni, PhD.
