We were thrilled to host our annual Belkin Health Fair, dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of our incredible team. With nearly 60 Belkin employees attending and 15 local health vendors on-site, this event was an opportunity to connect with the local community, explore health benefits, and take proactive steps toward wellness. Onsite flu and COVID-19 vaccines were also available to help protect our workforce throughout the season. As a #PeopleFirst organization, we constantly identify opportunities to support our employees’ health and wellbeing around the world. We were grateful to offer a workshop on #WorldMentalHealthDay so our global teams could learn more about #workplacewellbeing, how to “Recharge” (one of our company values), and resources available.   This year’s theme, created by the World Federation for Mental Health,” was "It’s time to prioritize mental health in the workplace.” According to a 2022 Applied Health Economics and Health Policy study, workplaces that foster positive mental health and support employees with mental illnesses are more likely to decrease absenteeism and presenteeism (lower productivity while at work), leading to increased overall productivity. Attendees learned strategies for not only maintaining their mental health, but how to proactively create an environment where we all can truly experience a sense of belonging. Representation. Career growth. Overcoming challenges. Community care. In celebration of #HispanicHeritageMonth, these themes shaped an empowering day at our global headquarters in El Segundo, hosted by our Juntos@Belkin employee resource group. We started with a private screening of the acclaimed short film "Quinceañera", written and directed by Jess Garcia. Quinceañera is "about a raging teenager who is forced to have a Quinceañera, but is then faced with joy and confusion when she meets a shy girl at dance practice." With only 4.5% of film directors being Latine, Jess’ team is excited to bring authentic LGBTQ+ and Latine representation to the screen. Following the screening, Juntos President Mariely Velazquez (far left in photo), facilitated an inspiring panel with (from left to right) Jess Garcia; Jess’ father/Belkin’s Senior Claims Support Adjustor Sergio Garcia, Richard Flores, and NBA Staff Official/first nonbinary transgender official in U.S. major sports, Che Flores. In partnership with AmeriCorps, the 9/11 Day Organization hosted a large-scale meal pack in observance of the federally-recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.   More than 1,200 volunteers, including military veterans and first responders, joined together to pack 450,000 healthy meals for people experiencing food insecurity in America. Nationwide, over 500 companies participated in the largest annual day of charitable service in the nation at 21 locations.   Belkin was honored to participate again this year as one of these companies and 11 of our employees helped pack an estimated 1,248 meals.
